Chapter 320
“You can wait here for your dad, then.” Lauren snorted mockingly.

Carter was avoiding her like the plague now. There was no way he would show up there on his own.
Lauren thought that this might be a good thing. With Arielle being there, Carter would have to show himself sooner or later. Since Lauren couldn’t get to him, she would make him come to her.
Meanwhile, Carter had Glen pull over by the roadside after having dinner. He was still trying to contact Liam. His calls went unanswered, and Rhea still had his number blocked.
The agreement was to discuss their next step after the divorce and step forward as a family to clear the air. So, why couldn’t he reach any of them?
“What’s going on?” he muttered.
Just then, Glen passed along a message from Devan. “Mr. Jamison, Ms. Arielle isn’t at home. It seems that Lauren took her away. She’s at the hospital now.”
Carter was so busy trying to reach Liam that he had ignored the messages Devan had sent him.
“Lauren took her?” He frowned. He was avoiding Lauren now.
On one hand, he needed to put on a show for Liam. On the other hand, it was also to prevent anything else from going wrong.
Lauren had called him, but he had ignored her. To think that she had even taken Arielle to the hospital now. Carter wondered if this was just to force him to show himself before her.
He couldn’t understand why Lauren was becoming increasingly disobedient and hard to control. 1
Carter felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He was starting to realize that he despised women who were dumb and selfish. They could disregard everything for the sake of their petty interests, completely oblivious to the bigger picture.
“Tell Devan to pick her up,” he said shortly.
Glen said, “He’s been outside the inpatient department the whole time. He hasn’t been allowed inside.”
Carter was truly angry now. “To the hospital.”
In the past, he had thought that since Lauren was Arielle and Adrian’s mother, she wouldn’t hurt them, even if she didn’t know how to care for them.
But now, that thought had changed. He was starting to doubt whether maternal instinct truly existed.

They soon pulled up outside the private hospital. Carter got out of the car and slowly headed toward
the entrance.
At that moment, Liam called him. He stopped in his tracks and immediately turned back to the car while answering the call. “Hi, Liam.”
“Carter.” Liam sounded weary. “I’ve been busy these past few days, and I only just saw your calls. How are things on your side?”
“I’m just waiting for Lauren to publicly apologize to Rhea now. I was going to… I was going to check with her on the exact date and time,” Carter lied.
Liam’s voice didn’t betray anything. “Alright. I’m free this whole week, so you need to hurry this up. After the public apology, you can come over for a meal. Everything will be above board and on track then.”
“I understand.”
Liam spoke like a father advising his child. “Be careful with your actions. Don’t let the media catch
anything at this critical moment. It would be hard to explain.”
Carter’s gaze drifted to the hospital behind him. He frowned but said, “I know.”
“Good.”
“I had someone purchase some tea leaves that aren’t available to the public for you. I’ll bring them to you one day,” Carter said.
Liam’s voice was still devoid of emotion. “Alright. Thank you for the thought.”
“It’s the least I can do.”
