Downstairs, Rhea raised an eyebrow when she saw how defeated Nathan looked. She asked, “What happened to you?”
“I never would’ve imagined that I’d one day witness my parents acting mushy to my face,” Nathan deadpanned, his face blank.
“You can do it to them, too.” Rhea wore a new dress and was lazily fanning herself with a fan.
She had just returned from dinner with her girlfriends and wasn’t sleepy yet, so she hadn’t changed out of her clothes or washed up. She just wanted to sit in the living room for a bit.
Nathan plopped onto a single–seater couch. “I can’t be bothered.”
Rhea thought that it was strange. Nathan had been raised as a privileged scion, yet he had never dated anyone since childhood.
Rhea narrowed her eyes. “Nathan, are you…”
“What?” He gritted his teeth. “I don’t play for the other team, if that’s what you’re asking!”
Rhea found it odd. “Then why aren’t you interested in any of these beautiful, sophisticated, and elegant women?”
For some reason, a face flashed in Nathan’s mind. He frowned in annoyance and said, “I’ll think about that after you get married again.”
Rhea was at a loss for words.
“Don’t stay up too late,” Nathan said before heading upstairs.
“Okay.” Rhea chuckled.
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from George. “I heard from Liora that you had a few drinks. Want to go out for a spin?”
Light snow drifted outside. Rhea’s vision swayed lightly. She was happy to have finally gotten the divorce over and done with, so she had had a few drinks with her best friends to celebrate.
She got up, grabbed her bag, and went to the bathroom. There, she touched up her lipstick and flashed a radiant smile, her eyes brimming with a captivating charm.
Then, she picked up her phone and texted back, “Sure.”
“I’ll be there in ten.”

Rhea leaned back lazily in the passenger seat of George’s sports car. The window had been rolled down a little, and she seemed to go weak as the cool snowflakes brushed against her.
She leaned her head against the headrest, keeping her eyes on George. This was the first time she had scrutinized him so closely.
George sat in the driver’s seat, his profile illuminated by the lights from the Ravelle residence’s gates. His eyes were deep–set, his nose was high and straight, and the subtle movement of his lips carried a hint of cool detachment.
But when he looked at her, his gaze was gentle.
He smiled casually as he started the car. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Rhea, probably carried away by the joy of her divorce, blurted without thinking, “You really are quite handsome.”
George was taken aback. Then, he chuckled and drove down the mountain. He wasn’t going too quickly, but Rhea still felt nauseous.
