As George furrowed his brow, he radiated a quiet masculine intensity. “Look all you want. But it’s cold out here, and you’re not dressed for it. Want to go to the car?”
The car was definitely warmer. So, they got in.
George didn’t rush to start the engine. Instead, he shifted his body to the side, as if giving Rhea a full
view.
“You…” Rhea was at a loss for words.
George said, “It’s rare for you to actually want to look at me, so go ahead and look. Just in case you wake up tomorrow and start avoiding me again.”
His tone sounded almost aggrieved, carrying a hint of accusation that she was an ungrateful flirt.
Rhea stopped hiding her feelings. “I don’t have any reason to avoid you now.”
“So you avoided me before because you weren’t divorced?”
It was a sense of moral obligation, then.
“Not exactly.” Rhea’s gaze drifted to his fingers. “It was the shock of accepting that fact.”
She had struggled to accept that George actually had feelings for her.
Just then, his phone rang. He declined the call without even looking at it. However, it rang again.
Within five minutes, his phone rang three times, and he received four WhatsApp notifications.
Rhea didn’t glance at his phone.
George held a high position and wielded significant influence at a young age. It was understandable that he was busy with work.
That much deserved respect.
But what surprised Rhea was that George offered her an explanation anyway.
“Nathan called once and texted, asking if I knew where you went. Then, there was a call from the office. The rest of the WhatsApp messages were from my mom.‘
Rhea realized that she had forgotten something. “I didn’t tell my family when I came out.”
“I told him,” George simply said.
“What?” Rhea’s mind seemed a little slow to catch up.

“I told Nathan that you’re with me. But he didn’t reply to me after that.”
Fueled by the alcohol, Rhea leaned closer and frowned. “Let me see.”

George opened the WhatsApp chat with Nathan. As he had said, Nathan hadn’t responded after George had messaged him.
Rhea pouted. “Doesn’t he even worry about me?”
George rested a hand on the steering wheel and tapped it lightly. His gaze dropped to her as he asked, “Am I not worth trusting in your eyes?”
“I wouldn’t be out here if I didn’t trust you.” Rhea buckled the seatbelt. “Take me to Lume Hotel. I’m getting sleepy.”
That was a hotel Nathan owned.
When they arrived, Rhea didn’t even need to check in. The manager personally escorted them to a
room.
Rhea walked slowly and occasionally wobbled a little.
George would steady her from time to time, maintaining just the right distance. That gesture was utterly gentlemanly.
The manager’s gaze flitted between them, and he gave a polite smile. “Mr. Snider, Ms. Ravelle, have a good rest,” he said, then left.
George didn’t enter the room. Instead, he said, “I had someone bring some medicine. Don’t sleep just yet. You don’t want your stomach acting up in the middle of the night.”
As soon as Rhea entered, she twisted open a bottle of water and took a few sips.
