The kids remembered almost everything from long ago, so why couldn’t they recall the night George stayed at Rhea’s house?

Kate recalled Rhea mentioning it once, and the kids had seemed a little shocked at the time. She figured that they had simply blocked it out temporarily.

She asked, “What games did your mom and Mr. Snider play with you? Oh, and Rhea’s villa is pretty big. When Mr. Snider stayed over there, did he bring a driver?” Kate’s tone was soft, like a gentle teacher coaxing her students. She showed no trace of aggression.

Arielle’s clear eyes met hers. “Ms. Pearson, we forgot.”

“Really?” Kate asked, a trace of doubt creeping in.

Arielle nodded sincerely. “Yes. It wasn’t a good memory. Mom made us choose to forget it.”

Kate smiled faintly. “So you actually still remember, right?”

“Ms. Pearson, if you’re curious, you can always ask Mom,” Arielle said.

Kate froze for a moment, clearly not expecting Arielle to say that.

Smiling, she looked down and picked up her phone. After she stopped the recording, she sent a message to Lauren’s new number. “What do your kids like the most?”

She wanted to get the kids to talk.

For Rhea, other people’s words might barely make a ripple. But if these two kids revealed anything about George’s involvement before her divorce, both the Snider and Ravelle families would face disgrace.

On the other end, Lauren stared at the message in silence. How was she supposed to know what the two bastards liked?

“I don’t know,” she replied.

Kate pressed her lips together when she read that. Anger surged in her chest.

How could a mother like this even deserve the title? It was no wonder the two kids didn’t like her.

“You should at least know how to make them happy, right?” Kate asked.

If the children were happy, they might reveal something on their own.

Rhea.”

Even though Lauren didn’t want to admit it, she had answered honestly.

Kate launched her phone’s camera app and angled her body slightly. She said, “Sweeties, let’s take a picture. I’ll send it to your dad to let him know you’re safe.”
