Chapter 372
“What’s that?” During her supper with George, Rhea’s eyes caught something in the distance. She asked, “A hanging bridge?”
“Yeah. Guests can jump down from it for the thrill,” George said, his faint smile teasing. “Think you’re brave enough to jump?”
The wealthy, bored with daily life and no longer thrilled by bungee jumping, built a hanging bridge to leap from. It was reportedly the most popular attraction among guests.
“It’s so high. I’m not that brave.” Rhea’s long hair was swept by the night wind.
George stood and extended his hand. “Come on. Let’s take a look around there.”
Rhea placed her hand in his palm, letting him guide her toward the bridge.
The nearby island staff was about to follow, but George subtly raised a hand. “No need to follow us.”
He thought that the bodyguards would suffice. After all, the island’s lights left no corner in darkness.
As George held Rhea’s hand, his gaze inevitably drifted to her right cheek. Her face was barely the size of a palm. He could easily cover it with one hand.
Her hand felt soft in his, and he couldn’t help but squeeze it gently.
At that moment, George couldn’t help but wonder if Carter had ever held her like this.
The answer was obvious.
George didn’t mind, but he was undeniably jealous.
He even wondered how a man like Carter could ever be worthy of her overwhelming love. Meanwhile, he could only handle the little affection she gave him with care, afraid it might slip away.
“What are you thinking?” Rhea’s voice broke his reverie.
George lowered his eyes. “I’m thinking about… how I can make like me more.”
Rhea squinted. “You’re lying.”
“What?”
“There was a fierce glint in your eyes just now. I saw it.”
George looked embarrassed. “Really?”
Rhea took a guess. “Were you thinking about Carter?”

The moment she said that, George suddenly pulled her arm. She spun into his embrace with her back pressed to his chest. He held her from behind and rested his chin in the hollow of her neck. His breath tingled along her skin.
“I’m jealous of him,” he murmured.
He hated Carter, but at the same time, he was grateful to him. If Carter hadn’t been so blind, George would never have had a day when his dreams came true.
Feeling his unease, Rhea lifted a hand and lightly patted his head. “I’ll give you everything I can.”
Her philosophy of love was simple–never betray anyone. If she liked someone, she would treasure the time they had together. If it didn’t work out, then they would just part ways.
She didn’t want to blame or resent anyone. After all, it was her own choice.
