Carter didn’t overthink it. Early the next morning, he sent the two kids to Kate’s place.

As Kate looked at them, her smile was softer and warmer than usual. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure they get to Rhea safely.”

Carter glanced at his kids and asked, “Remember what I said?”

Arielle nodded, smiling. “Yes, Dad. We’ll listen to Mom and take care of Gratidpa and Grandma.”

Carter couldn’t help but hug her. “Good girl. I’ll have someone pick you up in a few days.”

Kate quietly watched the father and children say their goodbyes. After Carter left, Kate said, “Breakfast is ready. Would you like some?”

“We’ve eaten. Thank you, Ms. Pearson,” Arielle politely declined.

Kate picked up two candies. “Then have some candies. I’ll get ready, and then we’ll head out.”

This time, Arielle and Adrian didn’t refuse.

After Kate changed and came downstairs, she asked, “Is the candy good?”

“It is,”

‚“Arielle replied, her eyes sparkling.

“Take some with you, then.” Kate casually put a small handful of candies into their bags.

“Let’s go.”

Half an hour later, Liora met Kate and the kids at the agreed location.

Kate entrusted Liora with sending them to the Ravelle residence.

Liora walked over. “Sweeties, get in the car first. I’ll talk to Ms. Pearson for a moment.”

“Okay!”

The two kids were well–behaved and looked adorable. However, it was just a shame that they were Carter’s children.

Liora’s gaze at Kate turned cold. “What’s this about?”

Kate looked at her innocently. “What do you mean?”

“Rhea and Carter are divorced. Why are you sending the kids to her? And she’s with George now. Don’t you understand? Why keep Rhea entangled with the past?”

Kate simply said, “The children are innocent.”

Liora increasingly felt that she couldn’t reason with Kate. She didn’t understand Kate’s stubborn behavior. The latter wasn’t like

this before.

Kate frowned slightly. “Liora, adult matters are one thing. Rhea raised them herself, and in their eyes, she is their mother. Just because she’s divorced doesn’t mean that they can’t miss her. If George can’t even accept the kids, does he really love Rhea?”

Liora stared at her. “Kate, what are you really trying to do?”

“I’m not trying to do anything,” Kate replied.

“Then why did you get involved with Carter, that bastard, and help him take care of the kids? Do you want to be a stepmom too?

Kate’s heart skipped a beat, but a faint smile appeared on her lips, “Why is everyone siding with Rhea? Have I ever wronged any

of you?”

Liora didn’t hold back at all. “You were Rhea’s closest friend. If you could scheme against her behind her back, how are the rest of us supposed to trust you?”

Kate sighed. “I just wanted to do a good deed, hoping that the heavens would let my mom get better. I couldn’t bear to see the kids missing Rhea and not being able to see her. That’s all.”

Liora stared at her for a long moment. “Fine. I’ll send them there. But if Rhea can’t take care of them, you’ll take them back.”

Kate nodded gently. “Sure.”

On the way to the Ravelle residence, Kate chatted with the children in the car. Her demeanor was as gentle as ever. It was as if the old Kate had returned.
