“In fact, you should look at your face in the mirror,” Seamus added.

Kate’s gaze landed on a nearby car’s window. She glanced at herself to see her face contorted in anger. It was a far cry from her usual gentle, demure appearance. She looked like a psycho who had lost control.

That made her panic. She abruptly released Seamus, finally breaking down in tears. “Fine! I’m an ugly cunt! Happy now?”

Seamus said, “…I told you to look at your face.”

Kate realized what he meant, and she saw red. “What the hell do you want?”

Why was he haunting her?

Whenever she argued with Seamus, she felt as if none of her attacks were hitting their mark. She found it frustrating and futile, and it broke her psychological defenses.

Kate tried her best to calm down. “Look, I just want you to stay out of my feud with them. You’re just George’s secretary–can you ensure that he’ll always be at the top? Besides, my father is a titan in the academic world. If you push me too far, we can go down together, and I guarantee you’ll meet a worse end than I will!”

She desperately wanted to get Seamus off her back, so she revealed her trump card without hesitation. It was the fact that Connor had students all over the world!

The power of public opinion was terrifying, but the Pearson family hadn’t yet reached the point of needing to play that card.

Seamus smirked and watched as Kate stormed off.

“Mr. Whitfield?” Rudy sidled up to him. “Are we going to continue following her?”

He had heard everything and knew that Kate had resorted to leveraging Connor’s dwindling influence to pressure Seamus.

Seamus laughed. “The moment she pulled out her so–called ‘get–out–of–jail–free‘ card, she knew she was at a dead end with nowhere else to run. We’re going to continue trailing her.”

How could he stop now? Was he the type of person who would back off after a few threats? As if that

would scare him!

So when Kate returned to the hotel, still fuming, she found that Seamus had beaten her there. Not only was he present, but he had also brought that accursed banner with him–it hung on the corridor wall!

Kate stormed to his room and rang the electronic door chime incessantly. Meanwhile, her driver followed, standing on tiptoe, eager to tear down the banner.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t reach it. The drones seemed to have eyes on them and moved higher up, almost as if they were playing with him.

Kate kept trying the electronic door chime, which was well–designed. Only the people inside the room could hear it–there was only silence outside.

She was abroad, where almost no one knew her. So, she didn’t need to care about her image. She could handle arguing, scheming, and even lawsuits. But the way Seamus slinked out of the shadows to pull these dirty tricks to disgust her wasn’t something she could handle.

Maybe it was because of the environment in which she had been raised, but she had never met anyone like him in the past–an unscrupulous, stubborn, and impervious rogue. She was on the verge of breaking down!

The door finally opened after Kate pressed the electronic door chime for half a minute.

Seamus was wearing expensive pajamas, and he leaned against the doorjamb lazily. “Did you something, Ms. Pearson?”

“Are you done?” she hissed, keeping her voice low.
