The living room fell silent for three seconds.
Then, Steven spoke first. “First of all, I would never let something like that happen.”
Bryan nodded quietly. Steven would be responsible for keeping Cynthia in check.
Then, George’s calm voice rang out. His words were both startling and unexpected. “Secondly, if something like that were to happen, I wouldn’t mind losing my mother.”
Liam raised his eyebrow at that. However, not a single member of the Snider family appeared surprised.
It was because yesterday afternoon, George had sent a simple message in the family group chat that had been dormant for years.
“I will visit the Ravelle residence tomorrow to ask for their blessings to get engaged to Rhea. I sincerely request everyone’s presence. Cars will be provided for transportation. Thank you.”
With the current head of Snider Group making such a heartfelt request, there was no way the relatives could say no.
Besides, for such a big occasion as the engagement of one of their younger family member, they would have gone anyway, even if he hadn’t asked.
The Snider family was large. Even if they lived in different cities, the bonds remained strong.
When Steven was in charge of Snider Group, he had generously supported their children.
Since George took over, he had remained grounded. Even during the busiest holidays, he always
made time to visit his relatives.
In terms of manners, neither he nor Steven ever faltered.
That was why, as soon as the elders got the news, they called their kids right away. No matter where they were, everyone had to be at the Snider residence in Draventh by 7:00 am the next day.
On the way, they kept giving stern reminders to their children.
“No matter how carefree you usually are, you need to behave today. Stay calm, speak less, and mind your manners. If you embarrass George, I’ll skin you alive!”
So when George spoke those shocking words, none of the cousins in the room even flinched. After all, their fathers had asked them to stay calm.
Even Liam, who had been through so much, was caught off guard for a moment.

He wondered what was going on. George was going to cut ties with his family, yet none of them even
blinked.
Still, beneath the surprise, Liam felt a flicker of relief. Perhaps the Sniders were all on Rhea’s side.
After a moment, Liam took a sip of tea to calm his nerves. “No need to be so serious. I was just asking. Philip, bring George a chair.”
“Mr. Ravelle, I’m fine to stand,” George replied firmly. His gaze was steady. “That wasn’t an impulsive answer. I like rational people. I won’t accept decisions based on personal feelings, no
matter who they come from.”
Cynthia’s dislike of Rhea was never truly deep. A third came from gossip, another third from Gerard’s passing, and the rest was mostly Kate stirring things up.
Judging someone based on hearsay rather than facts was unacceptable. Even if it were his own mother, George would never compromise.
