Chapter 449
“What’s wrong?” Nathan asked, noticing Elena’s troubled expression as they approached the door.
Elena frowned, as if she had been thinking hard and still couldn’t figure it out. “Why is Kate always acting like a madwoman?”
Nathan fell silent.
Kate kept showing up and causing trouble, even when everyone made it clear she wasn’t welcome. She was like some persistent, irritating little worm.
Elena closed her eyes, feeling she had been a bit too uncouth. But really, Kate was acting like a worm.
“Don’t mind her. You won’t have any dealings with her in the future anyway,” Nathan said.
When she stepped inside, Ruby was the first to welcome her. Smiling warmly, she said, “Elena,
welcome.”
Liam stood as well. They never used their status as elders as an excuse not to show respect.
It was Elena’s first time visiting. As Nathan’s parents, they naturally wanted to give a proper
welcome.
This was their first official meeting, after all.
Elena greeted them politely, “Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Ravelle. Hi, Mr. Snider.”
George’s smile was faint but genuine. He nodded slightly. After all, she might be Rhea’s future sister-
in–law.
“Please, have a seat,” Ruby said, pulling her in. “Where are you staying now?”
“At a hotel.”
“A hotel?” Ruby shot a cold glance at Nathan.
She couldn’t believe it. After all, that was no way to host someone! The Ravelle family had plenty of empty houses.
“I have an empty place. Later, I’ll have Nathan help you move in. There are maids there to take care of you. While you’re in Draventh, don’t hesitate to ask Nathan for anything,” Ruby instructed.
Elena smiled sincerely, thinking that her future mother–in–law was so nice!
“Thank
you, Mrs. Ravelle, but my parents are buying me a place, so I’ll have to decline your offer.”
“What? That won’t do,” Ruby said firmly. “It’s our responsibility.”

Elena had come for Nathan. If word got out that she was staying at a hotel or buying her own place, what kind of image would that give of the Ravelle family?
They all had a family dinner together at the Ravelle residence.
Liam looked across the table at the four young people sitting there, his eyes filled with satisfaction.
His children were all settling into stable relationships. He couldn’t be happier.
By 9:00 pm, the dinner ended. Ruby warmly insisted that Elena stay overnight. Elena couldn’t refuse and glanced at Nathan.
“Why are you looking at him?” Ruby asked, leading her upstairs. “Just ignore him.”
Elena seemed intimidated by Nathan.
“We’ve prepared some fruit, pastries, and tea. Supper will be ready in an hour. Rest for a while first,” Ruby said kindly.
Elena rubbed her partially full stomach. “Okay. Thank you, Mrs. Ravelle!”
Once Elena was settled, Ruby returned to the living room to see George and Nathan chatting with
Liam.
She called out, “Nathan.”
All three men looked at her.
“Yes, Mom?”
Ruby’s expression was cold. “Are you treating Elena badly? Have you been using that so–called domineering–CEO act to intimidate her?”
