The car came to a stop at the Ravelle residence.

The moment Elena stepped out, her entourage got out of a second vehicle. They had been waiting there already.

“Ms. Austin, shall I help carry the gifts inside?”

When Elena arrived in Draventh, Kieran had arranged for a few bodyguards and butlers to look after

her.

Nathan noticed them and said, “There’s no need to give anything.”

“I can’t do that,” Elena said, frowning. “Showing up empty–handed will make people think my parents didn’t teach me well.”

She then told the bodyguards, “Just put them here, and you’re free to leave.”

After all, they were outsiders. It wasn’t right to let them just walk into the Ravelle residence.

Elena turned to Nathan and said, “Have someone come take the gifts inside.”

Resigned, Nathan had no choice but to make an internal call and ask some maids to take the items

inside.

At that moment, another car pulled up behind them. Both of them turned.

Kate’s arrival made Nathan’s expression harden. His dislike and hostility toward her were no longer

hidden.

However, Kate acted as if she didn’t notice it. She approached with Alfonso and some gifts. “I heard that Rhea’s getting engaged. I came to congratulate her.‘

Nathan couldn’t very well refuse. Otherwise, people might think that the Ravelle family was rude.

“I thank you on Rhea’s behalf, Ms. Pearson. But today is a family gathering. So, it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to stay for the meal. We’ll invite you over another day,” Nathan said.

Kate’s eyes flicked toward Elena.

A family gathering? She wondered if that meant that Elena was dating Nathan.

“Why are you looking at me?” Elena shot back, refusing to yield. “I’m far more likely to be part of the Ravelle family than you are.”

Kate chuckled. “Of course, Ms. Austin. I’m just a little stunned by your courage in coming so far to pursue a man. I’ve never dared to do something so reckless without certainty.”

Kate knew Nathan well. He was outwardly polite, but in matters of romance, he could be tough.

Obviously, she was mocking Elena.

Nathan’s voice turned cold. “Is that so? But I’ve seen you do plenty of things that had no chance of succeeding, yet you just don’t seem to give up. I actually admire that kind of perseverance. Also, Ms. Austin isn’t here at Draventh to pursue a man. My mother invited her as a guest.

“Ms. Pearson, if you have nothing else to do, you can stand here and enjoy the snow view. My family is waiting. We’ll go inside first.”

Nathan’s tone was far from polite. His annoyance was so intense that he wished he could send Kate flying with a kick.

After saying that, he grabbed Elena’s hand and led her into the Ravelle residence.

Elena was a little stunned. She was forced to walk forward. Glancing back, she cast a sympathetic look at Kate, thinking that Kate shouldn’t have provoked a man in the middle of irritable male
