Ruby almost wanted to slap her.

“Of course I won’t. Being engaged to Rhea is a dream come true. I would never upset her, so please rest assured,” George replied gently, making the ladies seethe with jealousy.

So what if Rhea was an heiress? She had been married before and was even a stepmother, yet she still managed to marry into a wealthy family. It was infuriating to them.

Their daughters were all innocent young ladies. Even though they didn’t have a powerful father like Liam, they had never had to worry about money, and they also came from comfortable families.

Kendall was about to add another complaint when her expression changed. “Mom?”

Rhea’s grandmother, Penelope Garcia, approached. Her face was kind and gentle, with a healthy, rosy glow. Even at her age, her eyes were sharp and clear. She was full of energy.

Supporting herself with her cane, Penelope bent over to get closer to the table.

“Mom, you’re too biased!” Selene protested. “You’ve always favored Ruby and been so strict with us.

Fortunately, only Ruby’s family members were present at the moment.

Penelope straightened slightly, scanning her daughters. “Biased? I am, indeed.”

The sisters looked up in unison, a hint of indignation on their faces.

“Who among you is any good? All you do is stir up trouble. None of you listens to me. Only Ruby pays attention. If I don’t support her, do you expect me to support you stubborn fools?”
