Juniper watched the screen as the largest man she ever saw in her life walked up and picked Kyst up by the shirt and tossed him onto the hood of his car.

“You don’t fucking hit a woman.”

“She hit me first and dumped coffee on me. Fuck you buddy! I’m a lawyer and it was self–defense.” Kyst was scrambling to get off his car as Frank loomed over him.

Frank looked at the woman, “there is video surveillance out here. Let’s call the cops and –” The woman waved her hands frantically and ran off in her high–heels to a sports car parked several cars away and got it in it in a hurry. He looked at Kyst, “it’s your fucking lucky day but I have a friend who does work with the Toronto police and if they need a witness for her, I’m there.” He gave Kyst another shove and got into the car.

“Fuck you buddy,” Kyst screamed, “the bitch hit me first and I’m supposed to take it? Not in this century. Fuck that!” he looked down at his shirt, gave a frustrated curse and got into his car.

“The gentlest giant in the world went to save the day like a modern–day hero.” Suki gushed. “I can’t believe he just jumped right into a brawl without even thinking to back up a woman.”

“Did you see how Kyst actually got air from that loss?” she giggled behind her hand. “Frank is really strong.”

“He really is.” Suki grinned, “and he has stamina.”

“That was definitely a client though, right? Was she the one from Montreal?”

Juniper was coming out of the coffee shop with Suki, when her friend gave a little gasp. Juniper considered the man she knew was Frank was coming towards them purposefully and Suki sensed him before Juniper saw him. Her friend’s reaction was

Knowing how much her entire life Suki, despite her exuberance and loud nature, was incredibly reserved and romantically reluctant, the sight before her now was everything she could dream up for her best friend. “You’re both so cute.”

Frank grinned over Suki’s head, “sorry to crash your coffee date. I just missed her.”

“We were done anyway. Suki mentioned something about needing to go home and get a good sleep since she was pretty tired. I decided since I’m in his neck of the woods I’m going to go

visit Phineas at the office.”

“I’ll take you to Phineas.” Adil offered.

She nervously let him clip the helmet under her chin and then he encouraged her to get on the back.

“Okay.” She nodded and then grinned through the visor at Suki who was bouncing up and down excitedly. It was so good to see her friend not feeling the need to quell who she was to satisfy the

outside world. She shook her head at how following Kyst’s lead, she’d encouraged Suki to tone it down. She definitely liked this version better. She jumped when the engine roared to life under her and shook her head at Suki’s squeal as the bike pulled away from the curb.

Juniper’s eyes were squeezed shut while she hugged Adil even tighter as they accelerated through the traffic. She gasped when she felt Adil’s hand cover hers on his belly and she screamed, “put both hand on the steering wheel!”

It wasn’t long before she was enjoying the feel of the ride and with both eyes opened, was watching the scenery go by. Adil, true to his word, wasn’t reckless. He drove respectfully and calmly through the city streets, obeying traffic lights. She admitted she liked how he could move faster through the traffic than a car would. Entering Phineas‘ office, she tried to forget the last time she was here, but her eyes automatically flicked to where the monitor she’d seen Kyst’s betrayal take place was now hidden behind the wall panels.
