Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 399

Even though he couldn’t see the driver, Clive could sense the wild, reckless energy coming from the other car.

“Who the hell is this lunatic?”

He frowned and laid on the horn, but the other driver didn’t even flinch. Instead, the car gunned it straight at him, crazy but somehow totally in control.

The sports car’s front end was almost on top of him. Clive had no choice but to throw his car into reverse and back up fast.

Meanwhile, Amelia’s car had already vanished into the rush of traffic on the overpass.

Clive was fuming.

Behind him, the other drivers noticed that two insanely expensive cars were about to go head-to-head and quickly got out of the way. No one wanted to get caught up in that mess.

Clive kept backing up, forced all the way to the last intersection. Suddenly, the other car slowed down, pulling away. Clive thought maybe the maniac had finally given up, but then, out of nowhere, the car lunged forward again, headed right for him.

Was this psycho trying to kill him?

Clive broke out in a cold sweat. There was nowhere to escape.

He slammed his horn, heart pounding.

The other car didn’t slow down. Clive squeezed his eyes shut, bracing for the crash, but at the very last second, the car swerved, missing his bumper by a hair before tearing off down the street.

Clive’s hands were ice cold, his whole body shaky as the reality of what just happened hit him.

“Freaking psycho!” he muttered through gritted teeth.

Whoever that was, they were just playing with him.

Clive pulled out his phone, ready to call the police, but hesitated. He was driving drunk. If he called this in, he’d get himself in trouble too.

And tomorrow was the shareholders’ meeting…

Plus, there weren’t many people in this city who could afford a car like that.

A rich, powerful lunatic. Not someone he wanted to mess with right now.

He swallowed his anger and tried to let it go—for now.

But he wasn’t about to forget about this.

Amelia’s car was long gone, lost in the stream of headlights. Clive had no choice but to turn around and head back, still seething.

Belle dropped Amelia off at the entrance to her apartment complex.

Amelia said goodbye and stood on the sidewalk, watching Belle’s car disappear before heading inside.

“Amelia.” Will’s voice called out from the side.
