Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 400

Amelia had no idea her own son had set her up on a date.

She came home, took a quick shower, and barely had time to dry her hair before she was back at her computer, completely absorbed in work.

As for Felix, Amelia really had no interest in meeting him. Still, something about his face and that confident, almost commanding vibe felt strangely familiar. Curiosity got the better of her, so she did a little digging online. It didn’t take long to find out who he was—Felix, the only son of Commander Baker, head of the Southwest Military District. But even more impressive was his grandfather: General Baker.

A five-star general. The kind of legend who still had everyone’s respect, even in retirement. His presence was the real deal, the kind that came from surviving battlefields, not just sitting behind a desk.

Amelia stared at a photo of General Baker, her brows knitting together.

“This is Grandpa Baker, Amelia. Come say hello,” her mother used to say, her voice warm as she pulled Amelia forward.

She remembered him vividly—a serious, almost mysterious elder who rarely smiled. He’d always arrive quietly, slipping in through the back door, but even then, three military vehicles rolled up behind him. Armed soldiers in uniform stood at every entrance.

“Hello, Grandpa Baker!” Little Amelia had called out, not really understanding who he was.

And yet, when General Baker smiled, he seemed so gentle and kind.

“What a precious little one. Changle, I think she looks more like your mother than even you do.” Whenever her grandmother was mentioned, General Baker would shoot a sharp look at Grandpa Tony, who’d just walked in, clearly annoyed and choosing to ignore him.

Tony would do the same, acting like General Baker wasn’t even there, and went straight to light incense for Grandma.

Amelia remembered that after that, her grandfather and General Baker had gone up the hill to pay respects. Only Tony came back, and he had a fresh bruise on his face.

She blinked away the memory and kept scrolling.

That’s when she spotted it—General Baker’s birthday was next week.

Her mind started connecting the dots. Clive and Kristen were hosting Felix for dinner tonight, and it wasn’t just to eat. Of course they wanted to get close to the Baker family, and there was no way they’d miss General Baker’s birthday celebration.

Amelia’s eyes grew cold as she glanced at the family portrait of Kristen and her parents on the wall.

With General Baker’s status, everyone who mattered in politics, business, and the military would be there. It was the perfect chance to show everyone that the Sadinton family was still here.

She, Amelia, was still here.

The Watts family? Just a bunch of shameless thieves, pretending they belonged.

A plan was already forming in her mind.

She printed out a photo of a bronze relic and taped it next to the Watts family’s photo.
