Chapter 208

Sebastian couldn’t stand how Valeria spoke such piercing words in such a calm, detached tone.
What did she mean when she said that there was no breaking up, only ending things?
His pride and dignity had been trampled by her countless times.
When he lowered his head, his hands slid from her shoulders to cup her chin, and he kissed her forcefully. She jolted and instinctively pressed her lips together.
Sebastian pinched her face hard, and his strength was too much for Valeria to bear. Her lips were bitten and split open, with blood seeping out. His kiss sucked the breath from her until her mouth went numb, leaving her gasping for air. Valeria shook her head, clutching at Sebastian’s chest.
He freed one hand to cover her eyes as he kissed her.
Sebastian hated her rational composure more than anything.
Valeria couldn’t resist him, couldn’t even breathe as he kissed her, but there wasn’t the faintest trace of emotion in her eyes.
Sebastian was overwhelmed with frustration. He let her go, then slammed his fist hard into
the wall.
Valeria lost control of her breathing. She clutched her chest and steadied herself against the
wall.
The air hung thick with tension until a sudden knock on the door shattered it.
Someone was at the door.
Sebastian’s gaze darkened as he walked right over.
Valeria wiped at her lips, smearing away the mixture of saliva and blood from both of them.
Then she suddenly recalled the determination on Sebastian’s face just now, as if he had been ready to burn everything down. Did he think the knock was from Shane?
Valeria hurried after him, but Sebastian’s long legs took him quickly to the door, and he yanked it open.
Outside stood a woman who was a stranger to Sebastian.
She looked at him. “Is Valeria here?”

Chapter 208
“Kristen.” Valeria came forward, picking up a stack of books from the coffee table. She slipped them into a plastic bag and handed it over. “They’re ready. Here.”
“Thank you so much.” Kristen Langley glanced at both Valeria and Sebastian before smiling knowingly. “I must be interrupting. Alright. There’s no need to walk me out. I’ll get going.”
Kristen was the daughter of the fruit stall’s owner. Her child was four, and Valeria had gathered old fairy tales and parenting books from home to give to her.
Now, Valeria and Sebastian stood in the hallway. She kept the door open, with her eyes fixed on him.
Sebastian could feel a ball of fury rising. He knew that Valeria wanted him to leave.
