Life is Easier If You're Handsome novel Chapter 294

“They said a stunt team from the U.S. is coming to run a test?”

“A test?”

“Yeah, since you said you don’t need the training, they want to see what you can actually do.”

“Ah, well, if that’s the case, I should show up then.”

To proceed with the action shoot without stunt training—

Even though I'd already received proper instruction once before—

It made sense they’d still have doubts, especially since firearms were involved.

“Honestly, I’d be skeptical too.”

The action in this film was supposed to be pretty complex.

So if someone just casually claimed they could handle all of it, of course people would be raising eyebrows.

“They should learn to trust their actor, seriously. It’s laughable.”

“It probably just shows how much they care about the film.”

It was understandable.

But—

“Don’t we have to go to the U.S. anyway for the firearm sequences? So why are they coming here?”

From a logistical standpoint, it made more sense for me to go and take the test.

We had a private jet, after all.

It’d be far more efficient than having the entire stunt team and film crew fly out.

But—

“You don’t just summon a Hollywood lead like that. That’s not how it works.”

In Hollywood, that was absolutely off-limits.

“It’s all part of image management. You know, ‘Batman doesn’t move easily.’ It’s a whole setup to make you look more important.”

The contract was already signed, so payment wasn’t the issue.

It was about elevating the lead actor’s status, creating long-term anticipation for the film.

That kind of detail... was impressively strategic.

“Fascinating.”

“Actors don’t need to worry about stuff like this. But in any case, they won’t be here for another three weeks. You’re taking it easy till then, right?”

“Yeah. I’ll just chill and relax.”

“Good, that’s the way. They say humans need naps—rest is critical.”

With that, Seokho stood up.

Just because I was resting didn’t mean the company could pause, too.

He still had a lot to handle as the CEO.

“Alright, I’m heading out. Got some meetings.”

“Meetings?”

“Yup. Lately, more and more folks are trying to sign with us.”

“Haha. We’re kinda popular, huh?”

It wasn’t a joke.

A lot of celebrities genuinely wanted to switch over to our agency.

The reason?

“Because of our access to overseas markets.”

Right now, no Korean agency had more traction abroad than ours.

Even Taegun-hyung and Jinwoo-hyung were popping up in U.S. dramas now.

So if someone wanted to go global, Veritas wasn’t just an option—it was a necessity.

And the best news of all?

(One week ago)

“I might be joining Veritas soon?!”

<“What about ST?”>

“I think I’d rather be in a proper acting agency.”

“What do you think?”

<“I’d love it. We’d finally be under the same roof.”>

Sujin might be joining Veritas.

And on top of that, her mother—senior actress Kim Yuryeon—was coming too.

Veritas was only getting stronger.

And right in the middle of all this—

Brrring brrring brrring brrring brrring.

A sudden, unexpected call came in.

“Hello?”

—“K-Kim Donghu... it’s me, Sujin! I’m in the middle of filming. Is now okay to talk?” 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

***

Why had Kim Sujin suddenly called Kim Donghu in the middle of filming?

To understand that, we’d have to rewind time a bit.

“Ah! It’s Blazing Saturday! With brand! new! neeeew~ guests!”

“These guests are here to blow away the sweltering heat with their jaw-dropping acting talent!”

“They are ice cream! Straight from the drama Dual Careers! It’s Seong Jeongho! And Kim Sujiiiin~!”

The Saturday variety show Blazing Saturday.

A game show where guests and regulars competed in music lyric quizzes for food.

Usually, the quizzes focused on pop song lyrics.

If they got it right, the song would play and everyone danced.

A very popular format.

“What’s Dual Careers about?”

“Ah, Sujin’s been working really hard on it, so she’ll explain.”

“Uh, oh... yes! S-So Dual Careers is... about a father and daughter. The dad runs a hardware store... and is also a killer...”

Sujin was on the show to promote her drama.

“Isn’t this your first variety appearance in a while?”

“Yeah, for both of us. I think it’s been five years for Sujin too.”

“Right, right... I’ve been too busy since I was on with Donghu that one time..."

At that moment—as Kim Sujin casually mentioned “Donghu” during the opening talk—

“Huh?”

Dongyeopshin, the most perceptive man in the room, cracked a subtle grin.

She was stiff and formal when talking to Seong Jeongho, seated nearby, but her expression softened ever so slightly when she mentioned someone who wasn’t even present—Kim Donghu?

“Oh, this could get interesting.”

He had a hunch something fun might unfold.

And with that, Blazing Saturday kicked off energetically.

Three rounds, three lyric challenges.

Win, and you eat.

Lose, and you go hungry.

The competitive format had everyone fired up.

And as usual, the questions were brutally hard.

“Seriously, how are we supposed to get these lyrics right?”

“I can’t hear anything! What even is this...?”

“Is this from 10 years ago? Sounds like the audio’s been digitally decayed!”

It was the OST of High Dream.

Too much English, vague delivery—impossible to write down accurately.

“Even the hints suck.”

“Boom-ssi! Got any spicier hints?”

“Today... we have! None!”

“Aww come on!”

As the round dragged on and filming time ballooned—

“Um, can I... maybe use a phone-a-friend?”

Sujin mumbled it unconsciously.

“Hmm? Wait a sec! What did Sujin just say? Phone-a-friend?”

Dongyeopshin pounced.

“Huh? Oh, no! It was just a slip—really...”

“If you were to call someone, who would it be?”

MC Boom immediately picked up on Dongyeopshin’s play.

All eyes turned to Sujin. And in that moment—

The exact name Dongyeopshin had been expecting came out of Sujin’s mouth:

“Why didn’t we?! He might’ve actually come on set!”

“Stupid! I’m a goddamn idiot! DIE! No wait—I can’t die. I’ve got student loans.”

“N-No, but hey, do you still remember all the lyrics?”

—“Of course I do. It was my first project. You mean High Dream, right?”

“Y-Yeah, and the English part... could you give us a hint?”

—“I mean, I do know all the lyrics. But am I even allowed to say them all on air?”

That was... subtle.

At his words, Kim Sujin’s eyes widened like a startled rabbit.

She glanced around nervously.

Whip—whip—

Her twin tails flipped with every turn of her head.

She scanned the room with a “Can I really get away with this?” expression.

“Yes! Yes! If Donghu says it, it’s fine! Totally allowed!”

The MC gave the green light.

—“Then our Sujin gets to eat, right?”

That slick, teasing tone slipped out of Kim Donghu's mouth—

“Kyaaaaaaaaaaaa!!”

The studio filled with delighted shrieks.

He’d just said “our Sujin” on national TV?!

Was there any woman alive who could stay calm after that?

“H-Hey!! K-Kim Donghu, y-you can’t say stuff like that here!! What am I supposed to do?!”

Sujin’s face flushed deep red—she was basically KO’d on the spot.

She slumped into her seat, melting into it—but still, ever the pro, she held onto her phone tightly.

—“Just teasing. So, should I say the answer directly? Or write it down first?”

“Well... technically the rule is ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ to write it down...”

Before the MC could even finish, Donghu smoothly switched to video call.

Didn’t even care about showing his face.

“What is this face?!”

“Is he seriously not wearing makeup?”

“Even through the screen, he’s just... perfect.”

“Wait—he’s doing all this just because a female friend called him? Female friend?!”

While everyone’s imagination spiraled out of control, he calmly helped her write down the lyrics.

“Correct!”

They didn’t even need to double-check.

One glance and it was obviously right.

The room erupted with cheers—and eyes still glued to Donghu’s face on the screen.

How could someone be that handsome, gentle, and sweet all at once?

It was outrageous.

And just then—Dongyeopshin didn’t miss a beat and took things one level higher:

“Donghu-ssi, we’re having an after-party tonight. You think you can come? Haha—off the record!”

—“Oh, an after-party? Is Sujin going?”

“O-Of course I am! I filmed today too!”

—“Then I have to come too. I filmed today as well.”

That comment—

“Th-Then I’ll... I’ll send you the time and place later... y-you can come then, okay?”

—“Sounds good.”

Kim Sujin, now fully flushed, twisted her hair around her finger as she struggled to get the words out.

And just like that, the call ended.

Everyone sat there thinking the same thing:

“That sounded just like a girlfriend inviting her boyfriend...”

Yep.

Tonight’s after-party?

It was going to be legendary.
