Chapter 42 Bad Temper

Harry sneered, “Do you suppose I want to care for you?”

“I don’t need you to,” Catherine said coldly. “Now leave.”

He ignored her words and ordered the police, “Let her go.”

Catherine stayed seated and uttered mockingly, “Since you let Michelle file a lawsuit against me, stop pretending to care. Do you not find this disgusting?”

Harry stepped in front of her and put his hands on her shoulders. Cold light flickered in his eyes. “This is the last time. From now on, whether you live or die has nothing to do with me.”

Had Rachel not found out about Catherine’s arrest and pushed him to go to the police station, he wouldn’t have bothered to go there.

He went there reluctantly, and her ungratefulness only stoked his annoyance.

Catherine didn’t push Harry away. Instead, she grabbed his collar and forced his head down. “I won’t let Michelle off. I’ll make her pay.”

Harry pried her fingers open and lowered his voice. “Go ahead and try. As long as I’m around, I won’t let you harm her.”

They faced each other in silence for a moment before Catherine laughed bitterly. When she raised her hand, Harry caught it.

He let go and asked, “Are you going to slap me again?”

“Should I not?” Catherine bent her knee and kicked him in the belly. “Get away from me. You disgust me.”

Harry took a step back, wincing. He then watched her wipe her hands as if he were filth.

Catherine rose to her feet and left.

Harry looked down at the footprint on his clothes. He gave a laugh, sharp with fury.

It seemed the divorce had only sharpened her temper.

Outside the police station, Catherine saw Rachel waiting and understood at once why Harry had shown up.

She went to Rachel and held her hand. “Rachel, I’m sorry to have worried you.”

Rachel stroked Catherine’s head and asked worriedly, “Why would you lay a hand on Michelle

for no reason?”

Catherine’s chest tightened. Even Rachel thought she was in the wrong?

But then Rachel added, “You should’ve called me. Why dirty your own hands? What did she do to you?”

Catherine couldn’t help but smile. Right when she was about to answer, she saw Harry walking out. She bit back the words and tried to step aside.

Unexpectedly, Rachel pulled her close and put an arm around her shoulders. Glaring at Harry, she declared, “You’re not separating me from Cathy.”

Harry merely cast them a look before getting into his car. The slam of the door was his reply.
