Chapter 56 What Is Catherine up To
Catherine called Adam. She decided to use her former marital home in Cedarfall Hills as collateral for a bank loan, hoping to secure 300 million dollars.
All that remained was for the bank to approve the application and release the funds. If everything went according to plan, the money would be in her account by next Tuesday.
What Catherine hadn’t anticipated was the bank’s immediate reaction. Upon receiving her loan request, they called Harry.
Harry was in a meeting when Adrian suddenly appeared and interrupted. “Mr. Zimmerman, there’s a phone call for you.”
Harry excused himself, took the phone from Adrian, and walked down the hall.
“Who’s on the line?” he asked casually.
“The bank,” Adrian replied concisely. “They said Mrs. Zimmerman has put the Cedarfall Hills villa up as collateral.”
Harry’s hand froze. That was the marital home he shared with Catherine.
After their divorce, he had already signed the property over to her. Logically, it wasn’t his concern if she mortgaged it or sold it.
Yet a lump rose in his throat. The memory of seeing Catherine with Jeremy yesterday reignited a surge of malicious intent.
He picked up the phone. “Do not approve her loan.”
A fawning voice responded immediately. “Of course, Mr. Zimmerman. We’ll do exactly as you say.”
Harry hung up, gripping the phone tightly, though his voice sounded casual. “What’s Catherine been up to lately?”
Adrian started to leave. “I’ll look into it right away.”
Harry waved him off. “It’s fine. I don’t care what she’s doing. It’s none of my business.”
Adrian nodded. “Alright, I’ll get back to work then.”
As he worked, he made a point of quietly checking on Catherine’s recent activities, just in case Harry asked again.

Harry stared out the window, a cigarette unconsciously pressed to his lips. He bit the filter a few times before tossing it into the trash.
He wasn’t much of a smoker. He only lit one when he was annoyed.
When had he started getting so easily irritated over things concerning Catherine? Was it because she was with Jeremy that she seemed so eager to sell their villa?
Harry definitely didn’t want Catherine to get what she wanted.
When Catherine heard the news, she stood abruptly. “Why won’t you approve it? You
personally appraised the property, and the title is in my name. What reason could you possibly have to reject it?”
The bank manager replied, “I’m sorry. I genuinely wanted to approve your loan. But after an internal review, we decided the amount was too large and too risky, so we had to deny it.”
Catherine stared at him intently. “I’m guessing the high risk isn’t the only reason.”
The manager remained calm. “You’re overthinking it, Ms. Quinn. This was a unanimous decision by our team.”
