My Death Countdown (by Netulla) novel Chapter 24

Chapter 24

The car was silent for a long time.

Adrien watched as she frantically zipped up her bag, then tossed the whole thing onto the back seat as if it were a hot potato. He raised his hand and locked the car doors and all the windows.

“Does this look familiar?”

His tone remained calm as he spoke, as if he were simply discussing their next plans, betraying no other emotion.

But Kiersten heard the sound of the car doors locking.

She felt as if the blood in her veins was flowing backward.

A chill colder than the winter wind outside crept up her spine, slowly crawling to the back of her head.

She withdrew her hand, curled up her legs, and leaned toward the car door, forcing a strained smile onto her face.

“Adrien, what’s wrong? Weren’t your eyes feeling uncomfortable?”

Seeing that she was still pretending to be clueless, Adrien also put on a smile, mimicking her innocent and cheerful

tone.

“Yes, my eyes started feeling uncomfortable after seeing these chat records.”

“And you? After reading them, did you feel uncomfortable anywhere? Was it your eyes? Your heart? Or somewhere else?”

He imitated her tone, and with that insincere smile, Kiersten couldn’t help but want to scream.

She could no longer keep up the act. Terror appeared on her face, as if she had seen a ghost.

“I didn’t do anything! She killed herself, Adrien!”

Of course Adrien knew that Sylvia had committed suicide.

But did that absolve her of everything she had done?

If Kiersten hadn’t used such despicable means to provoke Sylvia, how would her depression have relapsed? How would she have lost hope and chosen death?

If he was the scythe that severed her will to live, then Kiersten was the hand that wielded the blade.

They were accomplices, together driving someone to death.
