Chapter 20

During this period, Davina had been searching for a burial plot for Sylvia.
Although Sylvia hadn’t even left behind her ashes, Davina thought that, since she was all alone, she should at least be laid to rest in peace.
After much deliberation, she finally chose a sunlit spot at Woodlawn Cemetery and purchased it.
She knew that before Sylvia left, she had destroyed all her belongings, but fortunately, when they got married, this daughter–in–law had given her a bracelet.
Davina planned to place the bracelet in the grave, erecting a cenotaph for Sylvia.
This time, she had come to take Sylvia’s memorial photo to make a copy and affix it to the tombstone.
That way, during holidays and festivals, she could come to pay her respects.
She never expected to accidentally learn the truth about Sylvia’s death.
Her mind was in turmoil; she didn’t know how to face this matter, nor did she want to see her son again.
So, after she calmed down, she didn’t even glance at Adrien, who had collapsed on the floor, and went straight into
the room.
After just a few days away, the house was once again in complete disarray.
She didn’t want to clean up for him anymore. She walked directly to the bedroom, intending to look for the photo.
She searched every corner but still couldn’t find it, so she turned and entered the study.
Adrien didn’t know what she was looking for and silently followed behind her.
When Davina opened the drawer next to the printer and saw what was inside, both mother and son were stunned.
A thick stack of papers was neatly placed inside.
On the very top sheet, densely packed with writing, Adrien immediately saw the words “Bucket List.”
Scenes slowly surfaced in his mind: the day after booking the tickets to Switzerland, Sylvia sat at the table, carefully writing down these words.
He remembered that she had said something very unusual that day, which had left him unsettled for a long time.
She said, “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you smile so happily.”
