My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 133

As the call ended, the house staff looked at Andrew Lane with a newfound respect for Isabella Austin’s place in his life.

Andrew Lane, the notorious workaholic, had just put Isabella Austin before his business—something no one expected.

Astonishment flickered in the servants’ eyes.

Isabella opened her bedroom door, her face a little pale. “Well? Is Andrew coming back?”

One of the maids smiled reassuringly. “Ms. Austin, you know just how much you mean to Mr. Lane. I’m sure he’ll be home soon to be with you.”

Isabella’s lips curled into a sweet smile. “Thank you.”

But the moment she closed the door, that smile faded. Anxiety etched itself across her features.

She hurried to the window, leaning out as far as she dared, desperately hoping to catch sight of Andrew’s car pulling into the drive.

Across town, Emily Blair watched Andrew Lane gather his things, a wry smirk playing at her lips. “Mr. Lane, it’s easy to forget important things when you’re so busy. Did you forget you had a beautiful woman waiting for you at home when you came to find me?”

Since leaving the cemetery, Andrew had insisted she come with him—no explanations. Even now, in the coffee shop, he’d barely spoken before Isabella called. And after answering, Andrew simply stood up to leave.

He buttoned his suit jacket, brow furrowed. “Isabella’s not feeling well. I need to check on her.”

Emily stood abruptly and turned to look out the window, not saying another word.

At the café entrance, Elizabeth Wilson had been waiting for a while already. She left with even less ceremony than Andrew.

“From now on, unless you find out who drugged me that night, don’t come looking for me,” Emily said, her tone even and calm. “I’d hate for your jealous girlfriend to take her anger out on me again.”
