My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 203

Andrew Lane didn’t say a word.

But the conversation between the three of them was overheard, loud and clear, by Emily Blair as she passed by.

She had originally planned to steer clear of the trio and find a quiet corner to eat by herself. Unfortunately, when she reached the far side of the dining hall, a foul, sour stench lingered in that corner—no wonder no one ever sat there. Just breathing it in made her stomach turn.

Resigned, she picked up her tray and headed back the way she’d come.

That’s when she encountered the three of them blocking the aisle, caught right in the middle of their tense exchange, and she couldn’t help but hear every word.

Emily prided herself on not eavesdropping, but it was hardly her fault they were standing right in the middle of the walkway, oblivious to anyone else’s presence.

She raised an eyebrow as she heard Isabella Austin accuse Andrew Lane of being jealous, then glanced over at him.

Even under the harsh fluorescent lights of the cafeteria, Andrew’s expression was unmistakably dark and brooding—if jealousy had a face, he wore it perfectly.

He didn’t deny it, either.

Isabella, clearly pleased with herself, softened her voice and, turning her back to Emily, said to Andrew, “Don’t be jealous. You know you’re the only one I like. Alex and I are just friends, that’s all.”

Andrew looked up, maybe about to respond, but instead his gaze landed straight on Emily, who was standing there with her tray, waiting to pass.

Noticing where Andrew was looking, Isabella turned as well, suddenly aware of Emily’s presence. A flicker of something unreadable passed through Isabella’s eyes before she quickly donned a shy, embarrassed smile.

“Emily, you didn’t overhear anything, did you?”

Emily shrugged. “Didn’t hear a thing. But could you guys move aside? I’ve been standing here for a while.”

Isabella seemed to suddenly realize they were blocking the way and tugged Andrew to the side. “Oh, sorry! Andrew and I didn’t even notice you.”
