My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 240

The room erupted into chaos.

Emily Blair’s breath caught in her throat as she clung desperately to Alex White’s hands, her face flushed red with panic. She glared at him with all the fury she could muster, jaw clenched tight.

But Alex barely seemed to notice her struggle. He just scoffed, cold and dismissive, tightening his grip even more. Emily could feel the air vanishing from her lungs, every second squeezing her closer to the edge.

Her vision started to swim.

Alex shoved her back, pinning her hard against the wall. He raised his hands higher, lifting her until her toes barely scraped the floor.

She gasped for air, chest burning, desperate for a single breath. Her voice came out in a broken rasp as she tried to protest.

“Al—Alex… let… go…”

She heard his voice, low and threatening: “Emily Blair, I warned you. Don’t push me.”

In that moment, she was certain—he really meant to kill her. Blackness crept into the corners of her vision, her thoughts scattering as her body began to go limp. Her mouth opened, but only a hoarse whisper escaped.

She was going to die, strangled by Alex White.

But just as she was about to pass out, his hands released her. She crumpled to the floor, boneless and shaking, bracing herself on her palms. Like a fish gasping for air, she dragged in ragged, ugly breaths—each one raw with the taste of survival.

Alex stood over her, and through her lowered gaze, all she could see were the polished black tips of his shoes.

He spoke, his voice edged with mocking amusement. “Emily Blair, you can’t handle me—let alone Isabella.”
