Alex White had a temper, but that didn’t mean she was the only one who could lose it.
So when Emily Blair suddenly leapt to her feet, everyone’s eyes widened in shock.
Emily’s movement was so abrupt that Alex didn’t even have time to react.
Smack—
Emily swung her arm and slapped Alex across the face, hard.
The room fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Emily hadn’t held back. The force of the blow snapped Alex’s head to the side, leaving a vivid handprint blooming red across her cheek.
Before Alex could recover, Emily grabbed her by the collar, yanking her forward so their faces were inches apart.
Emily’s eyes blazed, her voice cutting through the silence like shattered glass.
“What’s wrong, Alex? Did everyone finally notice the problem with that security footage? Is that why you’re so desperate to keep me from showing it around? Scared everyone else will see what you’re trying to hide?”
Alex clenched her jaw, whipping her head back around, her face darkening with anger as she glared at Emily. “Emily Blair!”
Without warning, Emily seized Alex by the hair and slammed her own forehead into Alex’s. She heard Alex grunt in pain.
The impact sent a dizzying ache through Emily’s skull, but she forced herself to keep speaking, voice unwavering.
“Listen to me, Alex. I don’t care how much Isabella Austin means to you. I care about myself.”
“If you all believe Isabella’s innocent, then what’s wrong with letting everyone see the security footage? The harder you try to cover it up, the more obvious you make it. People aren’t stupid—they’ll see the truth for themselves.”
“What exactly do you think you’re hiding?”
Emily raised her hand again, but this time Alex caught her wrist in a steel grip.
