My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 32

It felt as if a needle had pricked Emily Blair’s finger—her hand tingled with numbness.

“None of it’s true, it’s all just rumors—”

Suddenly, a wave of exhaustion washed over her. Her fingers twitched around her phone.

Andrew Lane would never believe her. Just like in her past life, no matter how Isabella Austin schemed against her, Andrew always sided with Isabella, unwavering.

Emily simply said, “Forget it. I’ll handle this myself.”

Right as she was about to hang up, Andrew spoke, seemingly out of nowhere. “Emily, it’s been a long time since I’ve had your soup.”

Emily’s eyes froze for a moment.

It wasn’t just soup—there were so many things she used to do for him.

Andrew often cooked for Isabella, but Emily knew he actually hated being in the kitchen.

That’s why she’d forced herself to learn to cook, experimenting with different recipes during the time she clung to Andrew, living with him. She’d nearly turned herself into a professional chef, just to please him.

Since coming back to life, she hadn’t cooked a single meal for Andrew Lane.

What was he trying to say now?

Emily let out a cold laugh. “What, you can’t bear to see your darling cook, so you want to treat me like your housekeeper?”

She didn’t wait for his reply—she simply hung up.

In her past life, she’d played the unpaid, ever-giving caretaker for Andrew Lane long enough.

This time around, she’d sooner go blind than cook another meal for him.

Emily didn’t know for certain, but she guessed that Amelia Lane was probably staying at the Lane family’s private hospital.

It wasn’t far. A quick cab ride and she was there in under ten minutes.

She kept her eyes straight ahead, heading directly for the VIP ward.

Finding Amelia’s room was easy.

Amelia had never been much for schoolwork; she was always glued to her phone, shouting at her games, cursing both opponents and teammates alike.

Emily barely had to listen to pick out the room echoing with shrill, furious cries—a noise sure to draw complaints from other patients and their families.

She pushed open the door without knocking.
