My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 335

So even though she never had any romantic feelings for Andrew Lane, Isabella Austin still couldn’t stand her.

Andrew, of course, would follow Isabella’s lead and keep his distance.

Her old fantasies had never stood a chance.

Thinking back on all the chaos from her previous life, Emily Blair could only sigh. She’d already died once; she should cherish this second chance and not get tangled up in the past anymore.

She reached for the water glass on her nightstand, drained it in one go, and settled back under the covers to rest.

The next few days passed without incident. Neither Andrew Lane nor Isabella Austin made an appearance, and no one tried to bother her. Even the gossip swirling online finally began to die down.

Arianna George was swamped as usual, but she still managed to call, reassuring Emily that things were being handled and she didn’t need to worry.

The rumors at school were slowly quieting, too. The teachers stopped calling or texting her. Ms. Carter, her music teacher, visited the hospital twice—each time just to check in and pass along the administration’s message.

The school wanted her to focus on getting better and return when she was ready. After all, she’d placed first in the last monthly exams, pulling ahead of the second-place student by a significant margin. The administration was eager for her to keep up her studies; she was the senior class’s best shot at winning the state’s top honors, and if she did, the school would have plenty to brag about.

Elizabeth Wilson also called with good news: business at her barbecue stand had picked up, and she was earning nearly twice as much as before.

Everything seemed to be moving in the right direction.

Emily’s days were filled with studying, eating the nutritious meals her aunt prepared, and sipping her mom’s homemade chicken or beef broth. Life in the hospital was peaceful and uneventful.

Frankly, Emily’s bones felt like they were going soft from all the rest.

These days in the hospital were the most comfortable, carefree days she’d had since coming back to life.

But she couldn’t help thinking about the last thing Andrew Lane had said to her.

“You’ll apologize.”
