My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 369

Emily Blair wasn’t being sarcastic or dramatic—she was just speaking honestly from her heart.

There were two reasons behind her decision. First, she didn’t want to drag her school or anyone there into her mess. By withdrawing, she was giving the school a way to explain things to the public and to the students’ parents—a clean break so the school wouldn’t have to take responsibility for her actions.

With such a clear separation, the school no longer had to worry about her casting a shadow over its reputation.

Second, she truly wanted to escape for a while. She needed to get away from this place, from the people who made her life miserable, from all the things that weighed her down. What she needed was a fresh start, and that meant moving to the capital.

Her savings were enough to bring Emma George, Elizabeth Wilson, and Elizabeth’s grandmother along with her. The decision might have seemed sudden, but it was something she’d been mulling over for a long time.

On the other end of the phone, there was a long silence. Finally, her teacher spoke, voice heavy with concern. “Why are you doing this? What about your college entrance exams? All you have to do is apologize. It’s not that hard. Once you’re out in the real world, you’ll realize sometimes it’s better to swallow your pride. Just listen to your teachers, apologize, and everything will blow over.”

“Think about it. With your grades, you could easily graduate at the top of the state. Have you even considered what this means for your exams? You’re young, mistakes happen, but you need to think about your future. Graduation is just around the corner—if you leave school now, you might regret missing the exams for the rest of your life.”

Despite the lecture, Emily could tell the teacher genuinely cared about her; this wasn’t just about the school’s interests.

But her mind was made up.

She replied calmly, “Let’s leave it at that. I’ll get in touch later to sort out my transcripts.”

The voice on the other end grew stern. “Emily, you need to be sure about this. Ours is one of the most prestigious schools in the country. If you really walk away, you’ll have nowhere to turn.”

Emily just replied, “That’s all.”

“Fine. Do whatever you want. I can’t help you anymore.”

The call ended abruptly.

Emily scrolled through her call and message logs. Arianna George and Ms. Carter had both tried to reach her—when they couldn’t get through, they bombarded her with messages.
