My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 90

When Emily Blair woke, her cheeks were wet with tears, and her eyes burned with hatred for Andrew Lane and Isabella Austin.

She stared up at the ceiling, suddenly realizing she had been given another chance at life.

This time, there would be no Daisy—at least, Daisy would never have a mother like her.

A bittersweet smile touched Emily’s lips as another tear slipped down her face.

How wonderful.

Daisy would be born into a loving, stable family with parents who cherished each other, instead of being dragged through chaos by her.

In this moment, Emily felt nothing but gratitude—for whatever power had allowed her to return before she ever got involved with Andrew Lane, before Daisy was even conceived.

This time, she finally had a choice.

But—

Isabella Austin was pregnant.

Probably with the son who had existed in Emily’s previous life.

Emily’s fists slowly clenched.

She hated Isabella Austin to her very core, but even so, she couldn’t bring herself to harm the unborn child.

Besides, right now she had no power to take on Andrew Lane directly.

She had to bide her time.

First things first: Elizabeth Wilson.

She needed to win Elizabeth Wilson—and her little sidekick—over, building up an alliance piece by piece.

Patience. She couldn’t rush this.

Good things come to those who wait.

After that nightmare, Emily couldn’t fall back asleep at all.

She remembered everything she’d learned about Elizabeth Wilson: Her biological father was serving a thirteen-year sentence for assault, gambling, and other crimes. Her mother, a victim of his abuse, had run away when Elizabeth was still young.

Elizabeth had been raised by her grandmother in poverty, working part-time jobs from an early age. If not for her grandmother’s insistence, she might have dropped out before finishing middle school.

The reason Elizabeth didn’t want to go to college was simple—her grandmother was getting old, too frail to work much, so Elizabeth planned to get her diploma and start earning money for the two of them as soon as she could.

In Emily’s last life, Elizabeth Wilson had become a tech tycoon, and everyone knew about her chronic stomach problems. People were always trying to curry favor with her, delivering lavish breakfasts to her desk every morning.

But the truth was, those stomach issues were the result of years of skipping breakfast to save money.

So this time, Emily got up early and placed a carton of milk and a fresh croissant on Elizabeth’s desk.

When Elizabeth arrived and saw the breakfast, she snorted. “Who left this for me?”

Emily looked up, about to answer, but before she could get the words out, Elizabeth tossed the milk and croissant right back at her.

“Get lost. You think you can buy me off with this? Dream on.”

Their classmates watched with open amusement, laughter echoing around the room.

Emily didn’t feel embarrassed. She just calmly gathered up the breakfast and asked quietly, “Then what would you like tomorrow?”

Elizabeth recoiled, glaring at her as if she’d grown a second head. “Emily, what is wrong with you? Did you take something weird this morning?”
