Celeste was puzzled, "What do you mean fire? Mom, what are you talking about?"

"Liam fired Martha. She came to me crying early in the morning. What did Martha do wrong that made you want to fire her?"

Liam fired the nanny?

Celeste frowned, "Mom, I was at the hospital taking care of my mom last night. I don't know what happened at home."

"You don't know? It's because of you that Liam vented his anger on Martha! Liam got hurt, and yet you went to the hospital to take care of your mother. Do you even know who's providing the money you're spending!"

Celeste's face went pale, "So you're saying that after you get married, you shouldn't care about your own parents anymore?"

This was the first time Celeste talked back like this. When Skyler realized, she became furious, "How dare you talk to me like that? You're so disrespectful!"

"Mom, if I can't even take care of my own mother, how would you think I'd treat you when you get old?" Before Skyler could lash out, Celeste continued, "Besides, your son has always been fair. He must have fired Martha because she did something intolerable. You should talk to Liam. Maybe he would reconsider for your sake."

With that, she hung up.

On the other side, Skyler's face turned white.

Skyler's head ached from her complaints, and she pursed her lips, "Don't worry, I know you've worked here for many years, and I'm well aware of your situation. I'll make sure this gets resolved."

Celeste hung up the phone and the more she thought about it, the weirder it seemed that Liam would fire Martha.

Celeste couldn't figure out what was up, and was hesitant about whether or not to call Liam, when Shawn's call came in.
