No Mercy No Forgiveness (Maureen) novel Chapter 10

Sitting across from her was Emmett Brooke, her treating physician.

Dr. Brooke, my memory is slipping these days. I’ve found myself constantly forgetting what I’m doing, she said.

When she woke up in the motel room this morning, as usual, it took her a long time to remember what she was sup- posed to do today.

Examining Maureen’s test report, Emmett seemed worried.

Ms. Ramirez, perhaps you should consider further examinations. For example a psychological evaluation.

A psychological evaluation

Maureen took Emmett’s suggestion.

She was diagnosed with depression.

Patients with severe depression often suffered from a certain degree of memory loss.

Before heading back to the motel room, Maureen bought a notebook and a pen. Then she recorded everything that had happened lately and put the notebook next to the pillow. In this way, she could see it the second she woke up.

The news of her divorce from Geoffrey spread quickly like wildfire.

Noelle called her a bunch of times that night, but she didn’t hear the phone ring.

She woke up the next morning.

Then she saw several messages from Noelle.

Where are you?

You’ve gotten so carried away. Even if you are getting divorced, Geoffrey should be the one dumping you.

You’re such a jinx. Your father had a car accident when you got married, and now, you want a divorce? You won’t stop till you ruin our family, is that right?

Maureen felt nothing as she read those harsh words. She was long used to them.

She replied, Mom, we should depend on nobody but ourselves from now on.

Noelle soon texted her, You ungrateful girl! I never should have given birth to you.

This time, Maureen didn’t reply. She put her phone aside.

After finalizing the divorce with Geoffrey in a month, she’d leave Karaville and start a new life.

In the following days, Maureen’s health kept deteriorating.

She lost her hearing often, and sometimes, it took a long time for it to return.

At the same time, her memory kept failing.

Though she couldn’t do anything about her hearing impairment, at least she could fight the depression.

She wanted to do everything she could to be happy and fulfilled.

So, she signed up online and volunteered to take care of elderly people who had lost their only child and orphans.

Seeing them getting help, she seemed to find the purpose to keep living.

In the morning a few days later.

When Maureen woke up, she checked the notebook as usual before getting ready to go to the orphanage.

However, as she picked up her phone, she saw several new messages from Noelle, Adrian, and Andrea.

She read them one by one.

Noelle texted, Happy now? Our family’s ruined. It’s what you’ve always wanted, right?

Adrian sent, Keep hiding. You’re such a coward. You don’t get to be my sister at all.

And Andrea’s message was, Look at the bright side, Maureen. In fact, the Ramirez Group has a better chance in Ge- off’s hands.

I’m always grateful to your family for your support back then. Let me know if you need anything. I’ll do my best to help.
