No Mercy No Forgiveness (Maureen) novel Chapter 24

That was how he’d addressed her in the past three years.

Maureen had gotten used to it. She looked down and replied, I’m not going back.

Since you’re here, why don’t you call Mr. Sutton for me? I wanna get divorced today.

It was still not too late.

Geoffrey hadn’t been nice to her on the phone the day before. She didn’t wanna call him herself. He’d only upset her again.

Wayne was surprised.

He knew Maureen and his boss had been talking about a divorce, but he’d never seen it before.

Maureen used to follow Geoffrey everywhere like a shadow.

Wayne frowned. Ms. Ramirez, I’m saying this for your own good. Enough is enough. Mr. Sutton is already mad.

What? Was Wayne lecturing her?

Not only Geoffrey’s family, but also his PA and secretary, as well as the domestic workers in the old residence, thought they were entitled to lecture Maureen.

Every time they did it, she had to listen to them with a smile full of gratitude.

But now, not anymore.

She clenched her hands slightly.

Then, she turned to Wayne and demanded coldly, He’s mad? What does it have to do with me?

If that’s all, I’m busy.

The sternness in her eyes terrified him.

Before Wayne knew it, Maureen shut the door.

For the first time, he was rejected.

In the past few years, he was the one being aloof to Maureen. Why was it the other way round suddenly?

Did she decide not to impress Geoffrey anymore?

Maureen anticipated that Wayne would complain to Geoffrey about it.

Tired, she slumped into the couch and waited for Geoffrey’s angry call.

She was right. As soon as Wayne got back, he told Geoffrey everything. Not honestly, though. He made something

  1. up.

The windows were creaking in the gust.

Maureen was curling up on the couch. It was early summer, but she felt so cold.

Time clapsed. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. It rang many times before she heard it.

She went to get the door. She didn’t have to look up to know who the visitor was.

Standing before Geoffrey’s tall figure, Maureen looked even more petite.

Finally, she raised her head and met his eyes. Did Wayne tell you?she asked calmly.

With a cold expression, Geoffrey tossed the photos before her.

I didn’t wanna embarrass you. You made me.

Maureen was confused.

She looked down and saw the photos of her and Gareth.

There was nothing inappropriate, except that in some photos, they appeared intimate due to the angles.

Before she could explain, Geoffrey continued, I thought it was a misunderstanding between us. I thought you were innocent. I even considered starting over with you!

He thought

There was a boom sound in Maureen’s ears. And a bitterness spread in her throat.

She retorted in a hoarse voice, You did? Sorry, I disappointed you.

There was nothing she should feel guilty of.

In the three years of their marriage, she had been a faithful wife, keeping other men at arm’s length.

But now, he was blaming her for something she didn’t do.
