Sean buried his face in his hands and cried out.

An assistant nearby asked, perplexed, “Young Master, what’s wrong?”

Sean snapped back to reality and looked at him.

“Answer me this–if someone saved your life but you never knew, and you kept making things difficult for her…

why wouldn’t she tell you she was the one who rescued you?

After all, you’d stop targeting her if you knew!”

The assistant pondered briefly before replying:

“Simple. First possibility: she assumed you knew who saved you. Seeing you never asked, she figured you were un- grateful–so speaking up felt pointless.”

“Second possibility: she never considered saving you a significant favor. No need to mention it…”

Sean replayed Maureen’s years of devotion to Geoffrey–her quiet sacrifices for everyone around him, never once brought up voluntarily.

So she truly hadn’t cared at all…

Andrea rose and walked toward him.

Sean stared at the woman he knew so well, yet now she felt like a stranger.

“Honestly, you’re such a grown man yet always so careless…” she chided with feigned annoyance.

Sean coldly pushed her hand away.

“What do you want?”

Andrea rarely showed such initiative unless she needed something.

Unnoticing of his icy tone, Andrea cut straight to the chase: “Sean, I heard Geoff went looking for Maureen. How did it go?”

Sean stared into her eyes of feigned innocence.

“Maureen died long ago. Didn’t I tell you?

What exactly are you afraid of?”

Andrea froze momentarily before hastily explaining: “Just pure curiosity. After all, the Ramirez family once helped me. Maureen was flawed, but they’ve done me kindness.”

“Sean, what’s wrong?

You’ve been acting strange lately.”

Sean saw no trace of gratitude toward the Ramirez family in Andrea.

He wordlessly handed his coat to the maid nearby: “Perhaps it’s because the old man keeps pressing about the family heirloom. Didn’t I give it to you?

Return it, and I’ll get you something else.”

Andrea’s pupils contracted, her face tightening: “Sorry, I lost it.”
