No More Lucky Star novel Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Talia figured Trevor would finally get the hint and back off, but she’d forgotten how relentless he could be when he wanted something.

That same night, he showed up at her house. She could see him through the window, standing outside her door for hours. When she refused to let him in, he just started talking through the wood.

Talia, baby, I’ve been looking for you everywhere. I know I messed up1 messed up badand you’ve got every right to be pissed at me. But please, just hear me out. Ivana and there was never anything real there. I thought she was the one who saved me back then, you know? I felt like I owed her something.

His voice cracked with desperation. But then I found out it was you. It was always you. Jesus, Talia, I screwed everything up. I put you hell, and I hate myself for it.

Trevor kept talking, spilling his regrets to her front door. Talia sat on her couch, bearing every desperate word.

All she felt was disgust.

She remembered being eighteen, fresh out of high school, working background in some crappy commercial. She’d been wearing this awful, gaudy outfit when she’d found twentyyearold Trevor dying in an alley.

Years later, when she was twenty two and finally making it in the music world, she ran

She’d saved his life and carried a torch for him for years. Y into him at some industry party.

She fell hard. Chased him like a lovesick girl.

They had three years together.

Honestly? It wasn’t all bad.

Not until Ivana walized in and ruined everything.

But that was ancient history now. Talia had built something real here, something healthy and peaceful. She wasn’t about to let her toxic past drag back down her fresh stan.

Just leave, she called outthe first and only thing she said to him. Stop bothering me.

The next morning, her phone rang at dawn. The local police station, asking her to come bail out some American tourist who’d been arrested for loitering.

Talia almost hung up. Then Trevor’s voice came on the line, sheepish and desperate.

Talia, you’re literally the only person I know in this entire country. If you don’t come get me. I’m stuck here indefinitely.

Please. Just this once.

She

e hung up and tried to go back to sleep.

Thirty minutes later, she was getting dressed and cursing herself for being too soft.

After dropping Isabella at preschool, she found herself at the police station instead of heading home to her peaceful morning routine.

Trevor looked like hellunshaven, clothes wrinkled from sleeping on a concrete bench, exhaustion written all over his face. But he still had that commanding presence that made him look more like a billionaire having a bad day than an actual criminal.

The moment he saw her, desperate hope blazed in his eyes. I knew you’d come. Deep down, you still care about me.

Chapter 13

Talia ignored him completely, handled the paperwork, and headed straight for the exit. Trevor scrambled to follow her like a lost puppy.

Talia. I don’t have anywhere to go.

Could I maybe stay at your place for a few dasys?

She whirled around, absolutely furious. Are you seriously pulling this helpless act right now? You’re worth billions, Trevor. What’s the point of pretending to be broke?
