This time, the transfer went unusually smoothly. Not a single Baker stood in our way–they quietly cooperated and handed

me to the Shaw family.

I finally felt at peace when I saw the newly minted paperwork with my new name, Mindy Shaw.

Deep down, I knew this was what it meant to truly change my fate. As part of the deal, I really did give the Bakers a stroke of good luck.

But things never go as planned. The moment they received some leftover payment from a project to tide them over, their account was empty again the next day.

Hundreds of thousands were gone in a flash, and after a chaotic investigation, they discovered that Jade had taken it.

I acted scared and stepped back.

Sandy stopped them, calling security to kick them out. “This is your family problem. No need
