Chapter 78
There was a plate of burnt bacon, which I also placed on the table.
I tried to calm my nervousness. I was afraid Leland wouldn’t let me attend Johan’s funeral.
I anxiously looked around and saw that Caitlyn wasn’t present; only two bodyguards stood behind Leland, exerting immense pressure on me.
Would you even eat the stuff you made? Or are you trying to be late for Johan’s funeral?” Leland rolled his eyes and grabbed a book to read.
I felt uneasy. Since childhood, I had never been treated so harshly.
I never realized Leland could be so intimidating when he was serious. To leave this place, I took a bite of the burnt omelet, which was excessively salty and tasted terrible.
I then tasted the bacon, which was bitter.
I’m done, Leland. You know Johan meant a lot to me, and he was like family. I have to be at his funeral. I’m not signing your contract and I’m not cooking!”
After my outburst, Leland ignored me, remaining calm, quietly flipping through his book.
I tried to leave but was blocked by the bodyguards. I was furious. Had Leland lost his mind?
He cheated on me, hooked up with Caitlyn, and now he was here with her to take all my property and try to control me.
I couldn’t help but clench my fists.”I don’t care how you treat me, and even if you kill me, it doesn’t matter. I need to attend Johan’s funeral. Do you hear me? I need to get out!”
Leland still didn’t move. Then he glanced up, and the bodyguards handed the contract to me.
I took a deep breath, feeling a pain in my abdomen.
