Chapter 82

Could Leland be suffering from a terminal illness?

What was Caitlyn implying by this statement?

I pressed my ear against the door, attempting to listen to what Leland was doing.

I heard his assistant hurriedly entering with documents. I recalled that I had set up surveillance in the house.

But I had handed my phone to the bodyguard. Feeling frustrated, I was close to breaking down, yet I had no option but to prepare food.

After three hours, I completed the meal, and the kitchen door was opened.

I observed the dishes on the table. Regardless of their taste, at least they appeared and smelled acceptable.

The bodyguard took the dishes out and placed them on the table, and to my astonishment, Leland began to eat.

The takeout Caitlyn had brought for him remained untouched.

I suppressed my anxiety, requested my phone from the bodyguard, and sat down to eat.

Leland didn’t even plan to leave any food for me. I admitted I had redone these dishes numerous times over the past three hours.

What was Leland planning? Why had he been so harsh since returning from the hospital? He was the one who cheated on me, so shouldn’t he feel guilty?

Leland, when did you and Caitlyn get together? Did you ever think about the fact that you were already married to me? Do you remember promising me you would never betray me?”

Leland didn’t reply, his cold stare never meeting mine.

Feeling heartbroken, I put food in my mouth, chewing it mechanically as I gazed at Leland in front of me. What had caused such a change in him?

I was genuinely confused.
