Chapter114.
Leland stared at me, his expression a mixture of fierce excitement and disbelief. Tears welled in his eyes.

I chuckled. “A man’s tears are not easily shed, and a man’s knee holds weight. Never mind. That one knee settles any debt between us. I’ll go find Caitlyn. From this point on, we owe each other nothing.”
As I stood, Leland seized me, hugging me fiercely from behind. “I was wrong. Can you still be my little princess? I’m sorry…”
Before he could finish, Caitlyn burst in, dragging Leland away.”Leland, didn’t you plan to send Kaylie abroad? I’ve taken care of all the procedures. And I want Kaylie to witness the annual meeting process today before it’s over. Tomorrow, she still needs to read out the statement…”
“Enough!” Leland shoved Caitlyn away, his eyes fixed on me, still alight with that desperate hope. Tomorrow, I will admit my mistakes. Kaylie, it’s my fault. You must be hurting, so disappointed, right?”
I managed a faint smile, too weary to engage further.”Alright. I’ll wait and see what happens tomorrow. Leland, Caitlyn… I’m ready. Are you?”
Caitlyn stepped before me, a smugness flickering in her eyes. “Whoever doesn’t show up is a coward. But don’t worry, even if you make a fool of yourself, no one will remember you after tomorrow.”
I nodded, my shile slight.”Yes. I think so too. Let’s wait and see what tomorrow’s annual meeting brings.”
With a final, weary smile, I clutched my phone weakly and turned to leave the company, allowing a hint of frailty to show.
When I returned to the villa and reached for the luggage I’d already packed, a chill ran down my spine.
I’d packed the divorce agreement, the transfer contract already signed over, the bank card containing the proceeds from selling the two hospitals, the gifts Leland had given me over the years, and my notebook-all secured in a single box.
