Chapter 30
(Marus
“Mr. Pearson, your love for your wife has always been a well-known story in San Francisco. No offense, but when you married into the Perez family and took over the Leslie Group, did you feel any sense of injustice or other emotions? Could you please share it with us?”
When an ignorant reporter asked that, Leland’s footsteps came to a halt.
Leland looked at the questioning journalist coolly, and the journalist repeatedly stepped back and apologized.
Leland, however, went from being serious to being calm. He took the microphone and looked at me affectionately before speaking.
Thank you, everyone, for your concern for me and my beloved wife. Here, I want to solemnly promise that I will always be Kaylie’s husband and that my love for her is unwavering! I am the son-in-law of the Perez family. Without them, I wouldn’t have achieved what I have today as an orphan. So, it’s okay to say that I married into the Perez family. I love my wife, whom I grew up with. Even if one day I have to sacrifice my life for her, I will not
hesitate!”
The thunderous applause erupted at the scene, and I glanced at the journalist who received money from Johan, nodding slightly.
The journalist silently stepped back.
Leland added, Today, my wife and I came here mainly to select the clothing for the Young Forever, Down Never’ series. Let’s not waste time. Please take
your seats.”
Leland calmly pulled me to sit at the judge’s table, where there were several companies that were on par with the Leslie Group. They were also selecting good works for their design departments.
Throughout the whole time, I looked at my brilliant and eye-catching husband.
I longed for him to have no changes and still be the husband I had always loved.
I wondered how he told lies so naturally and made them convincing.
Wasn’t Leland afraid that one day I would leave him and that his reputation would be completely ruined?
