Chapter 37

I saw the live stream on my phone, and Caitlyn’s frustration comforted me.

Leland, feeling guilty, cooked my favorite food and cherry juice tonight.

He even sent the maid away. Maybe he wanted to confess?

Leland put the dishes on the table. I stared at his handsome face, fascinated.

His fingers and tall stature made him very charming.

Sadly, he wasn’t mine anymore. We signed the divorce agreement two weeks ago. Leland, did you feel you’d lost me?

Time for dinner, honey,” he smiled gently.

I no longer felt cherished by him.

Meni

He poured me a glass of red wine, his eyes soft as he said, “Honey, your ideas are really one of a kind. I was impressed by your clothing design at the Regional Fashion Fair today. Your style is definitely more eye-catching. I sent the design over to the Design Department, and the Tech team already made a sample. Six schools are planning to order it for their uniforms. That’s some great news.”

Hearing him, I was stunned. The response seemed great.

That was my creative idea.

I asked, “Leland, don’t you remember? Or do you think I can’t draw designs, so you can just toss my work aside? Even if I tell you that it was me who shared my design inspiration with Anya, you’d still go ahead and sign with Caitlyn, right?”

My question upset Leland. He tried to explain, “Kaylie, I put your sketch on my desk. I thought you didn’t need it, so I asked Caitlyn to throw it away. I didn’t expect you to share the inspiration again.”
