Inside the hospital, the hallway was nearly empty, enveloped in silence.

Hugo headed straight to Scarlett’s room, which was just a couple of doors down from his

own.

When he reached the door, the lights inside were off. Was she asleep?

After a moment’s hesitation, Hugo decided to enter anyway, even if it was just to see her for

a second.

He opened the door as quietly as possible.

The room was pitch black.

He moved toward the bed, eyes adjusting to the darkness.

“Who’s there?” A voice suddenly came from behind him, and a hand reached out to attack.

Hugo reacted swiftly, dodging and turning to easily pin the person against the wall.

“Don’t be scared, it’s me,” Hugo’s deep voice reassured.

At such a close distance, Scarlett could see who it was. Her eyebrows furrowed as she

recognized him.

Hugo pressed her soft body against the wall, a slight curve forming on his sharp, handsome

face.

“So, sneaking around in the middle of the night, are we?” he asked.
