Scarlett had just finished freshening up when she noticed bags and boxes being moved into the house.
Wondering what was going on, William walked in with Grandpa Adler, both raising their voices in a heated argument.
“Grandpa? What brings you here?” Scarlett asked, surprised.
As soon as Grandpa Adler saw Scarlett, his argumentative demeanor vanished, replaced by a warm smile. “Of course, I’m
here to see you, and these three little ones. Why did you leave the hospital before you were fully healed?” he asked with
concern.
“I got tired of staying there. It’s just some minor injuries, and I can rest at home,” Scarlett replied with a smile.
“Alright, but remember, your health comes first. I’ve brought you some supplements, so make sure you take them,”
Grandpa Adler insisted.
Scarlett glanced at the mountain of goods piled up nearby and chuckled, “Thank you, Grandpa. You’ve really gone all out!”
Just as Grandpa Adler was about to say something, William chimed in, “Why thank him? He’s got money and likes to
spend it!”
“Old man, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all,” Grandpa Adler retorted.
“If you don’t like it, leave!”
“…I… Grandpa Adler was fuming.
Scarlett quickly spoke up, “Grandpa Hodges, why don’t you stay for dinner?”
As soon as he heard this, Grandpa Hodges’s fiery demeanor instantly softened, and he agreed with a smile, “Scarlett is
always so kind to me. I won’t be shy then!”
William was busy in the kitchen and frowned upon hearing this, “If you want to eat, go back to your Hodges Family. I’m
not serving you.”
“Who needs you to serve? I can help out in the kitchen!”

Seeing Grandpa Hodges roll up his sleeves ready to assist, William frowned even more, “Alright, alright, stay out of the way
before you set my kitchen on fire.”
“I…”
“If you really want to eat, just wait over there!” William said.
“Fine, I’ll wait. I’ll go play with my great–grandkids!” With that, he turned to find the little ones.
William glanced at his retreating figure, a small smile tugging at his lips, then lowered his gaze and continued cooking.
Dinner was lively and full of chatter.
Though there was constant banter, it was filled with warmth and family spirit.
Grandpa Hodges suddenly felt nostalgic, realizing this was much more enjoyable than eating alone at home.
He decided that from now on, he’d shamelessly come over for meals whenever he had the chance.
He could enjoy good food and see his great–grandchildren; it was a win–win situation. As for William, he could tease him
all he wanted.
After dinner, Grandpa Adler lingered until late before reluctantly leaving.
William went downstairs with the three kids to see him off. When they returned, just as the kids were about to head
inside, Scarlett called out to them.
“You three, come to my room for a moment.”
The kids exchanged glances, finally looking at William for help. William cleared his throat, “I’m going to bed.” With that, he
headed to his room.
With no rescue in sight, the kids reluctantly followed Scarlett into her bedroom.
They stood in a line, cautious. Fourth spoke up first, “Scarlett, did we do something wrong?”

Scarlett glanced at them, raising an eyebrow slightly, “What do you think?”
Fourth looked at First, then Second, and decided to stay quiet, figuring less talk meant fewer mistakes.
Watching them, Scarlett thought for a moment before speaking, “A lot has happened recently, and I know it’s been
worrying for you.”
Not a scolding?
Their eyes brightened considerably.
“There are things I haven’t mentioned, but you probably know. Still, I want to address them properly,” Scarlett said, looking
at them.
The three little ones remained silent, simply staring at her.
“Hugo… he’s your dad, and Mr. Hodges is your great–grandfather. You all know that now, right?” Scarlett said.
The kids exchanged glances and finally nodded in agreement.
“My marriage with him wasn’t very happy. When we divorced, he didn’t know about you. I took you away on my own, so it’s
not his fault,” Scarlett explained.
The kids listened intently. It was the first time Scarlett had shared this with them.
“I want you to know that what happened between him and me is our business. No matter the outcome, it won’t affect our
love for you. He’s thrilled to know about you, and I believe he’ll be a good father.”
“Scarlett…” First looked at her, seemingly guessing what she was about to say.
Scarlett smiled, “So, I won’t oppose you meeting him or being close to him. On the contrary, I’ll respect your choices.
Whether you want to be with him or me, I’ll accept it,” Scarlett assured them.
First frowned and stepped forward, “Scarlett, I’m sticking with you. I’m not going anywhere!”
“Sure, this dad might be rich, but his money doesn’t hold a candle to Scarlett. I’m staying with Scarlett too, not going
anywhere,” Second chimed in.

Seeing their declarations, Fourth couldn’t hold back and dove into Scarlett Adler’s arms, murmuring, “Scarlett, I do like dad,
but I’ve never thought of leaving you. You’re the one I love most, and I’m staying with you!”
Scarlett smiled softly at the three children.
Sometimes, it felt like they were the ones who brought light into her life, rather than her giving them life.
Because of them, life wasn’t dull; because of them, her long journey didn’t feel so endless.
“And remember, even though your last name is Ye, Grandpa He is also your great–grandfather. He clearly loves you, so you
should respect him. Treat both your great–grandfathers equally well, okay?” Scarlett said, looking at them.
The three little ones nodded in unison.
After saying all this, Scarlett felt a weight lift from her heart, like a stone that had been there for years was finally moved
away.
“Alright, it’s getting late. You all should head back and get some rest,” Scarlett said.
“Scarlett, can I sleep with you tonight?” Fourth asked, her eyes sparkling as she looked up at her.
“No way!” First interjected, pulling her out of Scarlett’s arms.
“Hey, what are you doing, brother?”
“Scarlett is injured. He’s just worried you might accidentally hurt her,” Second explained from the side.
“You’re just jealous that I get to sleep with Scarlett!” Fourth teased playfully.
As they bickered, the three of them made their way out.
Scarlett watched their retreating figures, the smile in her eyes dimming slightly.
She knew these three kids were anything but ordinary, much like she was back in the day. So, there were things she chose
not to dig into. Instead of stopping them, she decided to become stronger herself, to be their greatest support.
With this thought, Scarlett picked up her phone and sent a quick message, “I’ll be there tomorrow.”
