Chapter 327 Father and son teamed up to be cunning.
Yale looked at her, then turned to open the car door and took out something–a limited edition luxury Barbie doll.
“Fourth, I’m sorry. Uncle Lowe just found out about your accident and couldn’t visit you sooner. This is for you,” Yale said,
handing her the doll.
Fourth stared at the Barbie, momentarily stunned.
“What, you don’t like it? I remember you said you liked it before, so Uncle Lowe had someone bring it over from abroad,”
Yale explained.
Fourth’s gaze shifted, and she replied, “No, I really like it… It’s just that I already have one. Dad bought it for me.”
At the mention of Hugo, Yale’s smile slowly froze, and his gaze turned a bit colder.
“I’m sorry, Uncle Lowe…” Fourth said apologetically.
Yale snapped back to reality, forcing a smile. “It’s okay. I didn’t know. Tell me what you like, and Uncle Lowe will get it for
you next time.”
“No need, Uncle Lowe. I appreciate the thought, but I don’t need anything right now!” Fourth politely declined.
Looking at Fourth, it was clear that she felt distant from him. She was no longer the girl who could joke and act playfully
around him.
Thinking about this, Yale said, “Fourth, it seems like you’re not as close to Uncle Lowe anymore…”
Fourth looked at him, unsure of how to respond.
Just then, First spoke up, “Uncle Lowe, did you come by just to see Fourth today?”
Hearing First’s voice, Yale turned his gaze to him. First’s face was strikingly similar to Hugo Hodges, even his expressions
mirrored him.
Yale nodded, “Yes, that’s right. Why do you ask?”

“No reason, it’s just that I’ve seen Uncle Lowe with Tiana Young a few times. I thought you two were good friends, so I
was curious,” First replied.
Yale squinted his eyes. Was he reading too much into a child’s words? He couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more
to what First was saying.
“When did you see me with her? Where?” Yale asked, looking at him intently.
“Once, when I was taking a cab and passed by a bar,” First said, then flashed an innocent smile, “Uncle Lowe, Tiana
Young…”
“That woman has a heart of stone,” First warned. “I just wanted to tell you, it’s better not to get too close to her. You never
know when she might harm you.”
Yale looked at him, a hint of something deep flickering in his eyes, and then replied, “I’ve only run into her a few times by
coincidence. There’s no chance of what you’re suggesting.”
First nodded, smiling. “I see. Got it.”
Yale watched First, sensing something strange in his gaze, as if First knew more than he let on.
Just then, a car pulled up beside them, and Scarlett and Hugo stepped out.
Upon seeing them, First’s eyes sparkled, and he greeted them with a smile, “Hey, Dad, Scarlett, you’re back!”
Both Hugo and Scarlett paused, surprised by the sudden change in address, and looked at him in disbelief.
He actually called him Dad?
While Hugo was still processing this, First gave them a smile, subtly gesturing towards Yale.
Hugo quickly caught on, and upon seeing Yale standing nearby, he understood First’s intention. With a slight smile, he
walked over to join them.
“Daddy, Scarlett!” Fourth exclaimed, rushing over to them with an unmistakable look of joy in her eyes.
Hugo reached out and gently patted her head, a gesture that seemed particularly glaring to Yale.

At that moment, Hugo narrowed his eyes slightly and looked up at Yale, raising an eyebrow, “Mr. Lowe, what a
coincidence, meeting you again!”
Yale’s jawline tightened as he looked at Hugo, “Not a coincidence. I’m here specifically to see Fourth.”
“Oh, really?” Hugo’s lips curled into a slight smile, his gaze shifting to the toy in Yale’s hand. “Seems like Mr. Lowe knows
my daughter’s tastes well, knowing exactly what toys she likes!”
Yale glanced at the toy in his hand, then back at Hugo. “So, I know them far better than you might think!”
Hugo listened, not angered but instead turned to Fourth, “Why not take it? Don’t let his thoughtful gesture go to waste!”
“Uh, Daddy… didn’t you already give me one?” Fourth looked at Hugo, blinking her eyes at him.
“When? I don’t even know what this is. Did you dream it?” Hugo asked, looking at her.
Fourth was speechless. Did he really have to ruin it so completely?
“Fourth, I know you don’t like accepting things from others,” Hugo continued, “but sometimes you shouldn’t dismiss their
good intentions.”
Fourth sighed, “I got it!”
She turned her gaze to Yale. “Thank you, Uncle Lowe…”
Yale’s face was ashen, but he couldn’t say much to Fourth. He reluctantly handed her the toy. “You’re welcome!”
After she took it, Hugo looked at Yale. “Mr. Lowe, it’s thoughtful of you, but next time, don’t go overboard. My daughter is
just like that; she doesn’t really like taking things from others. Also, my daughter is doing just fine, so there’s no need for
your concern.”
Hugo’s words were clear. He was asserting his authority, subtly reminding Yale that he was just an outsider and that
Fourth wasn’t interested in his gifts.
Hearing this, Yale gritted his teeth and replied, “Mr. Hodges, if you care so much about your daughter, you should protect
her well. Otherwise, don’t blame others for taking an interest!”

Hearing this, First and Second both furrowed their brows in concern, their eyes fixed on Hugo, worried he might explode
any second.
However, after a moment, Hugo chuckled and said, “There are plenty of people with ulterior motives. Not protecting my
daughter was indeed my fault, but I wouldn’t stoop so low as to covet someone else’s daughter!”
Yale squinted his eyes at this.
Hugo looked at him with a smile, “If you really love daughters, Mr. Lowe, then I wish you have one soon!”
With that, he didn’t wait for Yale to respond. He took Fourth’s hand and looked at First and Second, “Let’s go home!”
The three of them said nothing, nodded, and turned to leave.
“Yeah, after all, I don’t have Mr. Hodges‘ skills. Sweet–talking people when you need them and then personally sending the
former ones away when you don’t!” Yale said.
Hugo’s steps came to an abrupt halt.
Yale continued, looking at Hugo’s back, “Mr. Hodges, I really admire that about you. You have one face when you love someone and another when you don’t. I wonder what you’ll be like when you change your mind again? Hopefully, you’ll
remember you have kids and be a bit kinder!”
At that moment, all three, including Scarlett, turned their attention to Hugo.
“Did Tiana go in?” someone asked.
Just then, Hugo turned around, his gaze coldly fixed on Yale.
