The gentlemanly and considerate manner left the young girl nearby staring in a daze.
They looked so well–matched, the man dignified and the woman stunningly beautiful, like a painting that was impossible
to look away from.
After closing the car door, Hugo turned back and softly said, “Excuse me, please.”
The young girl snapped out of her trance and quickly stepped back. Hugo didn’t spare her another glance, simply walked
around to the other side of the car, got in, and drove away.
His actions were smooth and without hesitation.
Scarlett sat in the passenger seat, watching the young girl grow smaller in the rearview mirror. Even after they had driven
far away, the girl remained standing there, unmoving.
Scarlett turned her gaze back to Hugo. “The girl looked pretty hurt.”
Hugo smirked, dismissing it. “Without any feelings involved, how could she be hurt?”
When Hugo was indifferent, he was exactly like this.
For a moment, Scarlett was reminded of how he had once treated her.
Feeling a bit riled up, she couldn’t help but say, “Hugo, that girl mustered all her courage to ask for your contact, and you
didn’t even give her a glance. That’s really cold–hearted.”
Hugo squinted, “What, are you unhappy with what I did?”
Scarlett narrowed her eyes, “No, I’m just stating the facts.”
“Scarlett, do you realize she’s trying to steal your man? You didn’t step up to claim your territory, and instead, you stood
back like you’re watching a show. I could overlook all that, but shouldn’t you at least act a little jealous and argue with
me?” Hugo asked, thinking that otherwise, he wouldn’t feel much accomplishment as a man.
Scarlett’s gaze shifted before she replied, “Why should women make things difficult for each other?”

“Besides, does claiming territory even work? Tiana used to do that a lot, but you’re still here with me, aren’t you?” Scarlett
said, her indifferent eyes captivating when they met Hugo’s.
It was as if she was the real prize.
Hugo was about to say something when Scarlett continued, “And anyway, if one man doesn’t work out, the next might be
even better.” With that, Scarlett…
Adler looked at him, her eyes filled with amusement, clearly teasing him.
Hugo just stood there, speechless.
After a moment of thought, he looked at her and asked, “So you’re just going to let someone else take your guy?”
“Well, it’s not exactly stealing, is it?”
Hugo let out a cold laugh. “Let’s not forget how often I wait for you outside the office. Hasn’t she seen me? Our situation
has been the talk of the town. How could she not know? Even if she’s new here and doesn’t go online or follow gossip,
she should still notice a guy waiting at the end of the workday. Who else would I be waiting for?”
“Uh?” Scarlett was momentarily at a loss for words, not expecting Hugo to have thought it through so much.
Then Hugo turned to her, speaking softly, “Scarlett, when it comes to relationships, only you could be this generous.”
Scarlett replied, “I’m not being generous. I just don’t want you to break a sweet girl’s heart.”
“Sweet?” Hugo raised an eyebrow, a glint in his eyes. “Maybe. But at least she’ll learn what it looks like when a man truly
loves a woman.”
“What does he look like?”
“In his eyes, there’s no one else!” Hugo said, emphasizing each word. This was the point he wanted to make.
Scarlett was taken aback, staring into Hugo’s eyes, which were as deep as the ocean. She was lost in them for a while.

By the time she snapped out of it, Hugo had already smiled, driving with one hand and looking straight ahead.
Scarlett closed her eyes for a moment to steady herself before speaking, “So, were you just putting on a show for others?”
Hugo felt like Scarlett could drive him crazy in no time.
To Scarlett, his deep feelings seemed worthless!
Thinking of this, Hugo suddenly swerved the car to the far right, stopped, turned on the hazard lights, and unbuckled his
seatbelt. He turned to face Scarlett.
Watching his swift actions, Scarlett looked at him with a puzzled expression, “What are you doing?”
Hugo looked at her, his usually composed face showing a hint of anger, his lips curling into a cold smile, “Scarlett…”
“I just wonder how stubborn a woman’s mouth can be,” he said, grabbing Scarlett’s head and kissing her forcefully.
His kiss was aggressive, leaving her no room to breathe. Initially, Hugo intended to punish her a little, but he realized it
was also a form of self–torture. Once he touched this woman, he found himself wanting more, unable to control his
desires.
The car was filled with a charged atmosphere.
Who knows how long it lasted, but suddenly, a knock on the window pulled them back to reality.
Hugo turned to see who was outside and rolled down the window.
The traffic officer standing there gave a salute before speaking, “Hello.”
“Is there a problem?” Hugo asked.
The officer glanced inside and, seeing Scarlett, seemed to understand the situation. He smiled and said, “Sir, it’s
dangerous to park here.”
Hugo nodded, “Got it.”
The officer thought for a moment and added, “Actually, there’s a nice park not far from here. It’s quite romantic and much

Scarlett stood there speechless. That traffic cop sure knew a lot!
Hugo nodded slightly, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” the cop replied with a smile before walking away without another word.
Once he was gone, Hugo turned to look at Scarlett. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes flickered, and there was a hint of shyness in her expression.
For a moment, she seemed like a bashful young woman.
His gaze drifted downwards, and when he noticed her lips, Hugo narrowed his eyes. He reached out and gently wiped the corner of her mouth with his thumb.
Scarlett was taken aback, staring at him in surprise.
“There, now it’s not noticeable,” Hugo said, smiling with satisfaction.
It was then Scarlett realized what he meant.
She grabbed her phone and checked her reflection. Sure enough, there was a lipstick mark at the corner of her mouth…
So it wasn’t that the traffic cop was particularly insightful; they had just been too obvious…
Saying she wasn’t embarrassed would be a lie. At that moment, Scarlett’s face turned as red as if she had been drinking.
Meanwhile, Hugo, pleased with himself, resumed driving.
