Chapter 353 Second and Hugo Hodges had an awkward relationship.
After thinking for a moment, Tara spoke up, “So that’s why you went through all this trouble. It was you!”
First just smiled without saying a word.
“Did they offend you?” Tara asked.
First raised an eyebrow, “You could say that.”
“How did they offend you?”
“They were… not very nice?!”
Tara paused, “Not nice to who?”
The three of them stayed silent.

“Your mom?” Tara guessed.
First looked at her, and with just that glance, Tara knew she had guessed right.
“Of course, only your mom could get you this worked up!” Tara said.
First then glanced at her and said, “Tara, have you noticed that since you met me, you’ve gotten smarter?”
“…Get lost!”
First laughed.
At this point, Fourth asked, “Brother, do those people know it was us?”
“What do you think?” First replied.
“Like a mantis stalking a cicada, unaware of the oriole behind, they’ll probably just think it was the last group,” Second
said.

First nodded.
“Doesn’t that mean Dad’s involved too?” Fourth asked.
“This whole thing, Dad was involved from the start. Whether or not he ends up with the goods, he can’t wash his hands
clean!” First said.
Second nodded in agreement.

“Ah, Dad never imagined he’d be outsmarted by his own three kids one day!” Fourth sighed, including herself in the mix
this time.
“No worries, trust Dad. He has the ability to handle it!” First reassured.
Fourth gave a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, looking at him, “Brother, aren’t you a bit too comfortable with this?”

“Honestly, I do feel guilty inside, but when I remember he’s our dad and can take the fall for us, it doesn’t seem like a big
deal. I feel relieved!” First said, though his face showed no sign of guilt.
Fourth replied, “Brother, your mindset is getting more advanced!”
“Ah, this high and lonely mindset, you wouldn’t understand. It’s exhausting!”
Fourth was speechless.
Second couldn’t help but chuckle.
Fourth was at a loss for words, choosing not to say anything more. Besides being annoyed, she knew she couldn’t win
against First in a verbal spar.
She simply accepted it.
Tara Green watched them bicker from the side and finally couldn’t help but speak up, “First, with that mouth of yours, I’m
really curious, besides your mom, who else can keep you in check?”
First raised an eyebrow slightly. “No one!”
“What about your future girlfriend?”
At this, First’s eyes narrowed a bit. “Well, I suppose I should count one in.”
Tara was surprised. “You don’t even have a girlfriend yet, and you’re already admitting it?”
First smiled gently. “That spot is always reserved for her!”
“Wow, that’s some serious pampering!”
“If I don’t spoil my girlfriend, who will?” First countered.
“That’s quite the mindset!” Tara remarked
“Of course.”
“Want me to introduce you to a potential girlfriend?” Tara teased.

Before First could respond, Fourth chimed in from behind, “Make sure she’s nice to me, or I’ll be bullied to death!”
Tara raised an eyebrow at her. “No problem, we’ll find someone for your brother together!”
Fourth was just about ready to high–five her!
Watching them happily agree, First glanced out the window casually. “Save it. I’m not in the mood right now. Besides, I
might not even like who you find!”
“That’s a bit arrogant, don’t you think?”
“That’s just how it is,” First replied.
Tara looked at him, her lips twitching slightly before she decided against saying anything.
Little did First know, years later, he’d be eating his words.
In the car, the group joked around as they drove, and soon they arrived in the bustling city center.
As Second got out of the car, First looked at him, “Thanks for today!”
Second squinted, giving a half–hearted smile, “No problem, looking forward to next time.”
First’s eyes sparkled as he smiled silently.
Just then, Fourth leaned out the window, looking at him, “Second Brother, remember to bring me something tasty!”
Second’s gaze was always filled with affection when he looked at Fourth. He chuckled, “Sure thing, little foodie.”
Fourth smiled sweetly, “Second Brother is the best!” She then shot a glance at First.
First pretended not to see or hear anything.
“Second, stay safe. We’ll be nearby and won’t leave until you’re back in the car,” Tara said.
Second nodded.

With that, Tara drove the car to a more discreet location.
As soon as they left, Fourth unlocked Second’s phone.
The moment it was on, Second’s phone was flooded with countless messages and missed call notifications.
The sheer number of messages and missed calls left him momentarily stunned.
Each one represented Hugo’s concern for him.
At that moment, he felt a sense of fatherly care from Hugo.
While he was lost in thought, his phone rang again. Second snapped back to reality, hesitating before answering when he
saw the number.
“Hello?”
On the other end, Hugo was nearly frantic.
“Second, where are you? What happened?” Hugo’s worried voice came through.
‘I’m… fine,” Second replied.
“Fine?”
“Yeah,”
“Where are you now?”
Second glanced around, “On Main Street.”
“Okay, stay where you are. I’m coming over right now!”
“Alright.”
“Don’t hang up.”
Second paused in his motion to end the call, hesitating, but didn’t hang up.

Hugo didn’t say anything else, and the call remained connected.
About twenty minutes later, Hugo arrived in front of Second.
Hugo got out of the car, his face tense, but relaxed when he saw Second was safe and sound.
“Second, what happened? Why are you alone? Where are First and Fourth?”

Second looked at him. “Tara took us out to have some fun, but we got separated. I tried calling them and accidentally
reached you.”
“Then why hang up?”
“My phone died. I just found a place to charge it!”
Hugo frowned.
Second studied him. “Did I worry you?”
Hugo took a deep breath. “As long as you’re okay.”
Second felt a pang of guilt.
“But why can’t I reach First or Fourth? Or even Tara?” Hugo asked.
“I’m not sure, maybe their phones died too!” Second replied.
“All of them?” Hugo raised an eyebrow.
It seemed too coincidental to be true.
Hugo scrutinized him, his brows furrowed, sensing something odd about Second today.
“Should we try looking for them?”
“No need. With Tara, they’ll be fine. Let’s head back; they might already be home!” Hugo suggested.
Hearing this, Second nodded.

“Let’s go!” Hugo said.
As the car door opened, Second hesitated for a moment, then got in.
