Hearing Ray’s words, Hugo’s gaze softened a bit, and he turned to him, “Thanks.”

Ray glanced at him, keeping his eyes on the road, “So, what’s the deal?”

“About what?” Hugo asked.

Ray frowned, “Don’t play dumb with me. I don’t help just anyone. If you don’t explain, and my guys mess up, don’t blame

“If she’s your woman, why’s she here? Could it be… she doesn’t fancy you?” Ray teased.

Ray narrowed his eyes, studying him for a moment before speaking softly, “Though it’s unlikely, in this vast world,

anything can happen. After all, if you, Hugo, can treat women like they’re your lifeline, what isn’t possible?”

Hugo squinted, thinking of the person in his heart, and spoke quietly, “I’d rather face disaster.”

Though it was said in jest, Ray could tell he wasn’t joking.

Looking at him, Ray teased, “Looks like you’re really serious about this.”

“Did you really think I came here just to see you?” Hugo asked in return.

Ray nodded, listening. “I’m getting more and more curious about what kind of woman could make someone like J, who

usually avoids women, become so devoted.”

Hugo thought for a moment before politely declining. “No, let’s just head straight to the hotel.”

Ray understood his nature and knew why he didn’t want to go, so he didn’t push it. “Alright, but why stay at a hotel when

you’re here? You should stay at my place.”

With that, the car picked up speed.

After parking the car in the garden, they both got out.

In the distance, on the lawn, a helicopter was parked.

Hugo spotted it and remarked, “That old thing still hasn’t been retired?”

Ray chuckled, “If it breaks down, it should at least do so on the way to pick you up.” He paused, then continued, “Actually, I planned to pick you up in this car to give you a warm welcome. But considering your intentions here aren’t exactly pure, I decided to drive myself. Honestly, it’s been years since I personally drove a car. Still, you shouldn’t feel too bad; after all, having me as your chauffeur is quite an honor.”

Hugo raised an eyebrow, “I’m not sure about the honor, but I do know I’m lucky to still be alive.”

Ray glanced back at him, “That’s why the master was right. You’re not just lucky; you’re tough as nails.”

Hugo smirked, unfazed.

“Let’s go,” Ray said, leading the way inside. A servant greeted them, saying, “Welcome home, sir.”

Ray casually tossed the keys over. “We have a special guest. Serve the best tea.”

“Yes, sir,”

The two of them walked inside together.

In the living room, they sat down.

Hugo lazily raised an eyebrow at the array of maids, “Is it okay for me to stay here?”
