With this in mind, First began, “The reason I haven’t mentioned this is because it involves Scarlett’s privacy and pain.” Tara frowned, watching him closely.
“My Scarlett came here because of her grandfather,” First explained.
“Grandfather?”
“Yes, Scarlett’s father!”
“Obviously, I know it’s Scarlett’s father. I just never heard you mention a grandfather before!”
“That’s because he’s passed away,” First said.
Tara paused, surprised. “Passed away?”
First sighed, “Yes, he has.”
“Why come here if he’s passed away?”
“Because my grandpa died under suspicious circumstances!” First replied.
Tara paused, her years of experience told her this was no ordinary matter.
“Did your grandpa stay here before?” Tara asked.
“He might have. I don’t know the details. Scarlett hasn’t shared much about him. I only heard bits from my great–grandfather. Even Scarlett’s visit here was kept secret; I found out by chance, which is why I followed quietly,” First explained.
Tara listened and nodded thoughtfully, “I see.”
“So Scarlett’s here to uncover the truth about your grandpa’s death?”
“Seems like it!”
“Did she receive some kind of message?”
First pondered, “Do you remember when we celebrated that birthday last time?” he asked.
Mentioning this, Tara recalled the incident she and Nate encountered, her gaze dropping slightly, “I remember. Why?”
“After you left, you might not know, but Scarlett ran into some people at the hotel entrance. Their tattoos were similar to grandpa’s, so she went over,” First said.
“Really? What a coincidence?” Tara asked.
“Yeah, it was just like that. Scarlett never gave up on finding the truth all these years, but there was never any news. Then, she just happened to run into them!” First explained.
“Who are those people?” Tara inquired.
First thought for a moment before replying, “They’re from the Red Mark Base!”
Tara was taken aback.
She stared at First, stunned for a long time.

In that moment, it seemed like everything clicked for her.
All the previous mysteries, including the attempt to intercept their goods…
It all seemed clear now.
But she still held onto a shred of doubt, looking at First, “So that’s why you wanted to hijack their goods?”
“Yeah!” First didn’t deny it.
