Chapter 124
ALINA’S POV
:.
“Were you ever going to tell me?” He asked in a detached tone, his face void of any emotion.
“Tell you what?” I asked, confused.

“That your parents are responsible for the incident that wiped out my entire family.” He said coldly.
My heart stopped.
He knew.
“Lucian…” My voice trailed off.
“Why?” Even though his face looked so blank and emotionless, the hurt in his voice was unmistakable.
“Lucian, please let me explain.” I begged, my eyes welling with tears.
“Explain? Okay, explain.” His tone was flat as he crossed his arms.
“I was going to tell you, I swear… but then I overheard your conversation with Ace,how you sabotaged me because you were trying to teach me a lesson, and I was upset.”
“Did you at least eavesdrop till the end?” He questioned.
“What?” I blinked, confused.
“Because if you did, you would’ve heard me tell Ace that I wanted to teach you a lesson on relaxing and letting your man handle the dirty work.” He told me quietly.
“Lucian…”
“So you kept such vital information from me because of an incomplete conversation you overheard?”
“Lucian, please just hear me out-”
“What else do you want to say to justify what you did, huh?” His voice cracked slightly. “I knew you were stressed from work and wanted to reduce your burden. I asked you to trust me, Alina. Why couldn’t you?”
“I messed up, Lucian. I’m sorry…” I sobbed, my voice thick with guilt.
“Everything I’ve ever done, from the moment I met you, has been with your best interest at heart. I would never hurt you… so why?”
I couldn’t say anything, I just sat there and cried.
The look in his eyes as he stared at me made my chest tighten. He looked at me like I was a stranger. His hazel eyes, once filled with warmth, were now clouded with doubt.

Chapter 124
Was he… doubting my loyalty?
“You hate me now, don’t you?” I sniffed.

“There’s no part of my being that can ever hate you, no matter how much you hurt me, Alina. But I need to clear my head.” He responded softly.
“Lucian, I’m sorry.” I whispered, putting all the sincerity I could muster into those words.
In all my time knowing Lucian, no matter what I did, he never reacted like this. This was the first time my actions had truly hurt him… and I felt like shit for it.
“Make sure you listen to the doctors and take all your medications.” He said.
I frowned. He sounded like someone saying goodbye.
“Where are you going?” I asked, panic bubbling in my chest.
“I’ll be busy the coming weeks, so I may not check on you as often. Make sure you take care of yourself.”
He was trying to stay away from me.
“Liar. You don’t want to see me.” I cried harder, my voice breaking.
I was such a hypocrite. This was exactly what I always did whenever I was mad at him, and now that the tables had turned, it didn’t feel good at all.
“What happened to communication, Lucian?” I said, desperation creeping into my voice.
“I think what we both need is space from each other.”
“No! I don’t need space from you! What I need is you! Why don’t you get it? Why-”
I began to grow hysterical.
Lucian rushed to my side and grabbed me so I wouldn’t hurt myself, but I just kept on struggling.
“Doctor!” he yelled, his voice full of alarm. In my hazy state, I could see the doctors rushing in. “Give her something to calm down so she doesn’t hurt herself!”
“No! I don’t need anything!” I cried out, but I soon felt a prickling sensation in my arm… and my body grew heavy.
My struggles came to a stop, and finally, I fell into a slumber.
–
Days turned into weeks, and I was finally given the green light by the doctors.
I hadn’t fully returned to work, but I assisted Mia when needed.

During the remaining days I spent in the hospital wing of the mansion, Lucian visited me, but only at night, when he thought I had fallen asleep.
I’d feel his eyes watching me… sometimes the soft caress of his hand on my cheek. I always pretended to be asleep because I knew he didn’t want to talk. Still, I was just glad he came to see me.
“God, I’m so glad to finally be out of that prison.” I told Talia over the phone.
“Don’t be dramatic, Ally. The hospital was a room in the mansion.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m just glad to be out of the house.” I laughed.
“I’m sure you are. But do you have to go check the fabric at the store on your own?” Talia asked worriedly.
“I do. Mia had come alone while I was still recovering and they didn’t let her. They want to deal with me directly,” I explained. “But don’t worry,Mia, Jordan, and Lee are with me and will be at all times.”
“Please just be careful. Don’t be anywhere alone.” Talia pleaded.
I knew Jackson had long been taken care of. Last I heard, he’d been sent to The Ridge, Block D. Or, as some call it, the Deadside. He was never getting out.
“I will, baby. I promise.”
“Your man is still not talking to you?” She asked.
“No.” My voice took a sad note.
“Don’t worry, he will come around.” She assured me softly.
“I hope so.”
The call ended just as I arrived in front of one of the biggest fabric stores in Elaris.
“Good morning, ma’am, and welcome to Stitch City,” the receptionist greeted with a polite smile. “Do you have an appointment, please?”
“Yes, I do. Under the name of Alinova.” I told her.
“Just a moment.” She said, eyes darting across the computer screen.
“Oh my God. Welcome, ma’am,” she said cheerfully. “Your order is ready and in the storage unit at the back, ma’am.” She signaled another worker who joined us.
My heart began to race at the mention of the word storage unit.
“This is Manuel, and he will be attending to y–are you okay, ma’am? You look pale.” She noted.
Jordan rushed to my side instantly.
“Does this storage unit have a back door?” He asked, his tone sharp.

“Uhmm, no. This building can only be accessed from the main entrance, which you walked through.” The receptionist responded, clearly confused.
“Can I see this storage unit?” It was more of a statement than a question.
“Of course.” She nodded. “Manuel, please.” She gestured toward him.
“Lee, watch the entrance.” Jordan told him.
Lee nodded stiffly before Jordan disappeared with Manuel.
“Please have a seat, ma’am, while I get you a glass of water.” The receptionist said kindly.
Mia led me to the couch and we both sat down.
“You’re alright, ma’am. You’re safe.” She whispered, grabbing my hand.
She noticed I was on the verge of a panic attack.
She gave my hand a gentle squeeze, and that single action was enough to keep me grounded.
“Here you go, ma’am.” The receptionist handed me a glass of water.
“Thank you.” I smiled, gulping it down.
“Do you want me to turn off the AC?” She asked.
“No, I’m good.” I assured her feeling a lot better.
Jordan reappeared a few minutes later.
“It’s all good.” He told me.
“Alright then. Shall we?” I asked Manuel.
“Of course, ma’am. Right this way.” He said, walking back toward where he and Jordan had come from.
It wasn’t a storage unit but a huge ass room with millions of Fabrics that stretches on for miles. It felt like we were in a whole different dimension.
The fabrics I wanted were available, and I made my order.
