Chapter 125
ALINA’S POV
:.
“Uhmm… do you want some money?” I asked, trying to pull away from his hard grip.
The stranger scoffed and yanked off the hoodie shielding his face.
My eyes widened in shock when I recognized who was standing in front of me.

“Adrian…” I gasped, my eyes scanning his entire frame in disbelief. “What the heck happened to you?” I asked him, barely recognizing the man I once knew.
“How dare you ask me that?” he hissed through clenched teeth. “You! You happened to me.”
“I… I don’t understand what you mean?” I replied, confused and trying to keep my voice steady.
He scoffed bitterly.
“How dare you ask your fiancé to give me a project you knew was bound to fail in the first place?” His tone brimmed with accusation and resentment.
“Let go of Miss Alina, or I will call the police.” Mia said firmly, her eyes glaring at Adrian who still held a tight grip on my arm.
“This doesn’t concern you, so shut the fuck up and go away.” Adrian snapped at her without even glancing in her direction.
Mia pulled out her phone, quickly typed in 911, and turned the screen to show him she wasn’t bluffing.
“Listen, I don’t want any trouble, okay?” he said, finally letting go of my arm and raising both hands in mock surrender. “I just want to talk to Alina, that’s all.”
“Talk if you want to talk. No need to get fucking handsy.” Mia shot back sharply.
My eyes widened slightly at her tone. She’d always been polite, composed. I had never heard her speak like
that before.
Adrian glared at her, clearly not appreciating her audacity.
But Mia held his stare, refusing to back down.
“Fine,” he finally relented. “Alina, baby…” he cooed, making my cringe. “Only you can help me now.” He begged, desperation flickering in his eyes.
“Help you? Why on earth would I do that?” I asked, genuinely confused.
“Because you love me.” He said, like it was the most obvious truth in the world.
Seriously?

“How many times do I have to tell you that I, in fact, do not love you?” I snapped, frustration bubbling in my tone. “Is it until I tattoo it to my forehead before you believe me?”
“That’s not true. You’re only doing this because you’re upset about me and Seraphina,” he muttered. “You helped me get this project… why would you do that if you didn’t love me?”
“Just like the first time you approached me about this, Adrian, I wasn’t the one who got you this project,” I explained. “Lucian gave it to you on his own, something I was so angry about. In fact, I tried to sabotage you, but I couldn’t. I wish I could take credit for your predicament because it gives me great pleasure to see you like this, but alas, I can’t… because what happened to you has absolutely nothing to do with me.” I shrugged coldly.
“How?” Adrian asked, staring at me in confusion.
“How what?”
“How can you, who loved me and followed me around like a lost puppy, just suddenly stop loving me overnight? It doesn’t make any sense.”
I rolled my eyes.
Honestly, I was tired of entertaining him. But it was a good thing he was slowly warming up to the idea of me not loving him anymore.
“Because I found out what a selfish, conceited, and horrible person you are,” I told him, my voice cutting. “You never loved me. You lied to me, told me you were the one who saved me, which was the only reason I became interested in you in the first place.”
His eyes widened at the revelation, visibly stunned.
“I….. I…..”
“Save the lies, Adrian,” I cut him off sharply. “I know you weren’t the one that saved me. You let me follow you around and try to please you because I felt like I owed you for saving my life. And all this while, it wasn’t even you. You used me. Not just for yourself, but also for Seraphina. You’ve abused and embarrassed me every chance you got, until your whole circle thought I was a fool. And if I hadn’t woken up when I did, you would’ve eventually drained me of everything I have and killed me.”
My voice hardened at the end as I stepped toward him threateningly.
He took two quick steps back, clearly shaken.
There was fire in my eyes, and I knew it showed.
“I want to make you suffer, Adrian. And I wish you would die… but death would be too easy. I hate you with every fiber of my being, and I want nothing more than to see you suffer.”
“Alina, listen to me… the only reason I lied about saving you is because I love you and I wanted to be with y—”
“A good person wouldn’t use such deceitful and despicable means to keep me by his side,” I cut in coldly. “You never loved me, Adrian. You just enjoyed having a puppet follow you around and do your bidding. I’m done

with you, Adrian.” I said, shooting him one final look before turning around.
“Watch out!” Someone shouted, just as I was suddenly tackled to the ground.

The person twisted midair to shield me, and I landed on him. Pain shot through my wrist as it hit the pavement, making me wince.
“Are you okay?” I heard Louis ask.
My eyes snapped open.
What just happened? When did he get here?
“I’m fine, Mr. Grey.” I told him, quickly standing.
I extended my hand to help him up, my gaze drifting to the side, and freezing.
A struggling Adrian was being held down by Jordan and Lee, and a small dagger lay just a few feet away from him.
The bastard had tried to stab me.
Mia rushed to my side, her eyes scanning me frantically for injuries. “Are you okay, ma’am?”
“I’m fine, Mia.” I reassured her.
“Are you sure? Maybe we should go to the hospital, just to be sure-
“”
“I’m fine, I promise,” I said gently. “Mr. Grey should be the one you’re worried about… he cushioned my fall.” I turned to Louis, noticing how he held his upper arm with a pained expression.
“Oh my God, you’re bleeding.” Mia gasped, her gaze fixed on his hand where blood was slipping through his fingers to the ground.
“Mia, call an ambulance.” I ordered, worry settling into my chest.
“There’s no need for that, Miss Dawn. It’s just a scratch, I promise.”
“A scratch? And you’re bleeding this much?”
“I promise you, it’s just a scratch. I tend to bleed a lot, even from the littlest cut,” he said lightly. “It’s nothing a simple first aid kit can’t handle.”
Mia dashed to the car and returned with the first aid box. She knelt beside Louis and began cleaning and bandaging the wound with practiced hands.
He was right, the cut wasn’t deep. But it was a cut, and he had gotten it trying to save me.
“I’m so sorry about this, Louis.” I said, guilt tightening my chest.
A smile curved his lips, catching me off guard.

“What?” I asked, confused by his smile in a moment like this.
“You just called me Louis, not Mr. Grey.” He pointed out, grinning.
“Oh.” I said softly.
I hadn’t even realized it.

“If I knew getting stabbed was all it’d take for you to call me by my name, I would’ve gotten stabbed a long time ago.” He teased.
“Don’t joke about that.” I smacked his chest lightly.
“Ouch. Stop assaulting the patient.” He feigned hurt.
“Thank you, Louis. I mean it.” I said sincerely. “I owe you one.”
“Nah. You don’t owe me anything.” He smiled warmly.
“But I-”
“I didn’t save you so you could be indebted to me. I did it because it was the right thing to do.”
