I shifted my gaze to him. “Stuff him in the trunk and take him to the warehouse.” I ordered coldly,

“What?!” Both Jordan and Lee spluttered, their eyes wide in shock.

“Did I stutter?” I asked, slightly annoyed, my glare shifting from Jordan to Lee with sharp precision.

“Uhm, ma’am, do you like… uh… maybe want to inform the Boss?” Jordan asked hesitantly, clearly unsure if he should obey my order.

“Inform him if you must,” I shrugged. “But do as I have asked you. I don’t want to repeat myself.” My tone darkened, a low warning laced in each word.

I got it, the warehouse holding cell, or torture room as it was commonly known, was where Lucian handled business. It was not a place to mess around. But it was a good thing I wasn’t messing around. Not today.

If I wanted to get rid of Adrian once and for all, I needed to do this myself. He was already scared of Lucian, now, it was time for him to fear me too.

He needed to understand that I wasn’t someone he could toy with. That lesson had to come from me.

“Sorry, ma’am.” They both apologized in unison, their voices subdued.

“Good. Drop Mia at the store first, then take me home so I can freshen up.” I instructed, slipping into the car with icy calm.

Adrian was gagged and stuffed into the trunk like the garbage he was. As we drove off, I could hear his muffled groans through the seat, low, desperate, and constant. The sound was music to my ears.

I remembered how, in my past life, I had spent far too many hours locked in car trunks, courtesy of Adrian and Seraphina. Now, the tables had turned. Now, he would learn what real fear felt like.

When we pulled up in front of the store, Mia got out of the car

“In case something important comes up and you can’t get to me, contact Jordan,” I told her through the rolled-down window.

“I have it covered, ma’am.” Mia assured me, as confidently as ever.

“I know you do,” I said, adding, “just in case,” with an exaggerated eye roll that made her chuckle.

She really was so reliable.

“Roger that, Captain.” She gave me a playful salute.

“You should spend less time with Louis. I think he’s rubbing off on you,” I said with a teasing smile. “Now off you go.”

“Let’s go.” I said to Jordan, who was behind the wheel, and he drove off.

Within minutes, we arrived at the Blackwood estate. Lee quickly came around and opened the door for me.

I stepped out and walked over to the passenger window, knocking lightly. Jordan rolled it down.

“You can head over to the warehouse and get Adrian prepared. Lee will drive me there when I’m ready.” I told him.

“Okay, ma’am.” Jordan replied without questions this time before driving off.

I turned to Lee. “Hang around. I’ll inform you when I’m ready for us to leave.”

He gave a stiff nod and walked away silently.

AUTHOR’S POV

Alina should have known Jordan was going to inform Lucian about her plan.

The moment Jordan drove away from the mansion and toward the warehouse, he called Lucian.

Lucian, who was in a boardroom meeting, didn’t hesitate to answer. Even though he’d been avoiding Alina like the plague lately, he never failed to keep tabs on her.

“Talk to me, Jordan.” Lucian’s firm voice filtered through the car speaker.

“Boss, there’s a situation.” Jordan said, unsure how exactly to label what was happening.

“I’m listening.” Lucian urged.

“I’m on my way to the warehouse-”

“Jordan, I could care less what you do during your free time. I’m not your mother.“Lucian cut him off in a flat

tone.

“No, Boss! That’s not… I didn’t…” Jordan stuttered, flustered at Lucian’s words.

He took a breath, steadying his nerves before speaking again.

“I’m heading to the warehouse with Mr. Vaughn in the trunk… because Madame asked me to take him there.”

That certainly got Lucian’s attention.

“What?” Lucian asked sharply, his voice rising just enough to turn heads in the meeting room. “Give me a sec, Jordan.” He connected the phone to his Bluetooth earpiece and snapped, “Everybody out!”

Chairs scraped and people scrambled to obey.

“Sir-“Jessica began tentatively.

“If I have to repeat myself, Miss Mendez, then I suggest you go over to HR and collect your severance package.” He growled with a glare.

That was enough for her to bolt out the door.

“Tell me everything that happened.” Lucian demanded, walking over to the floor–to–ceiling window, his hands tucked into his pockets as he stared outside. His tone was cool, but something dangerous simmered beneath

Jordan proceeded to relay everything that had happened, though he carefully left out one key detail, Louis being the one who saved Alina.

Louis wasn’t stupid. Everyone knew Lucian hated him. But Jordan also knew Louis now worked with Alina. If

either. she hadn’t told Lucian about it, it wasn’t his place to say

“Do whatever she asks you to do and help her with whatever she may need.” Lucian said quietly after a pause.

“Uhm… Boss? You won’t be coming?” Jordan dared to ask.

“No,” Lucian responded flatly. “She wants to handle this herself. I can respect that.”

Most of his fights with Alina stemmed from him meddling,making decisions for her, trying to protect her. But not this time. This time, he would let her have control.

“I’ll keep you updated, Boss.” Jordan said cautiously.

“There will be no need for that. And make sure she doesn’t find out you told me about this.” Lucian ordered.

“Okay, Boss.” Jordan replied before the call ended.

Jordan was genuinely shocked. For Lucian to let Alina go through with this alone was… unprecedented.

“Are you really not going to go see what she’s up to?” Ace asked, surprised.

“Of course not,” Lucian scoffed turning to face Ace, then paused. “Have the tech guy send a live video link. I want to see everything that happens in my warehouse from the moment Alina gets there.”

“I knew hell would have to freeze over before you let her do something like that on her own.” Ace muttered under his breath, clearly amused.

“Shut up and get to it.” Lucian said with an eyeroll.

“Yes, Boss” Ace laughed and went to work.

Lucian muttered under his breath as he stared out the window. “What exactly are you up to, my little doll?”
