Lucian was shaking now. “Check the surveillance. Now. Before I bloody kill someone!”

He ended the call with a swipe of his finger, his chest heaving.

Growling, he turned to Ace. “Is the weather better now?”

But the answer was obvious. The rain pounded harder than before, making the windows shudder.

Ace shook his head. “Still grounded, sir.”

Lucian clenched his jaw, fury and helplessness mixing into something dark.

The phone rang again.

Ace answered and handed it to him.

“It’s Jordan.”

Lucian snatched the phone. “What did you find?”

“She left, sir,” Jordan said. “Through the staff door out back. Around past midnight. That’s how we missed her.”

Lucian closed his eyes, his breathing now heavy.

He paced the length of the room, jaw clenched, phone on speaker mode clenched tightly in his fist. His steps were sharp, restless, the floor beneath him almost echoing with each pass.

Ace stood quietly by the window, watching him with concern as he listened.

“Tell me exactly what happened two days ago,” Lucian said, his tone clipped and demanding. “Every damn detail.”

Jordan’s voice came through the phone, steady but cautious. “After work, she asked to be taken to her penthouse instead of the estate,”

Lucian stopped mid–step. “Did she say why?”

“No, boss,” Jordan responded. “And on the way there… she started sobbing… loudly.”

Lucian blinked, caught off guard. “She cried?” He asked, his voice low, puzzled.

“Yes.”

Lucian resumed pacing, slower this time, trying to process. “Did she mention anything? Give a hint?”

“No, sir. She didn’t speak. Just kept wiping her face as her body shook. When we got to the penthouse, we walked her to the door. She told us she wasn’t going out… and that was it. We haven’t seen her since then.”

Lucian exhaled heavily, his free hand running down his face. “Is that everything?”

There was a short pause before Jordan responded. “Not entirely.”

Lucian’s voice dropped. “What else?”

“Well… I noticed her mood changed after she left the Blackwood Tower that morning. That’s when it started.”

Lucian glanced at Ace, who mirrored his confusion. “What do you mean, she came to my office?” Lucian pressed.

“Yes boss and she seemed happy too when she went in with the lunch pack. But a few minutes later, she came back out, without the food. And she looked… off. Like something had upset her.”

Lucian’s grip on the phone tightened. “Did she say anything?”

“No, but she made a call to her friend. She stepped out at the park to talk, so I couldn’t hear the conversation.”

Lucian’s voice dropped an octave, harder now. “Anything else I should know?”

Jordan hesitated.

“Think carefully, Jordan,” Lucian warned. “Now’s not the time to hold back.”

A beat passed. Then Jordan said, “When she left her store with Louis later that day. They talked for a bit, she seemed troubled and upset. He looked worried about her. And… she hugged him.”

Lucian stopped pacing.

His entire body went still.

His fist clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. The hug? With Louis? In public? The image of it that he had seen flashed again in his mind.

His stomach twisted.

“Mobilize the boys,” Lucian said through gritted teeth. “Turn the damn city upside down if you have to. But find her.”

“Yes, Boss.” Jordan replied before the line went dead.

Lucian lowered the phone slowly and turned to Ace, his voice hoarse with disbelief. “She came. She actually came.” Then he frowned. “But… you said the front desk said she didn’t.” He added.

Ace’s brows furrowed. “That’s what Emma told me”

Ace was equally confused.

Lucian’s eyes burned. “Something’s off. Reach out to surveillance. I want the CCTV footage from two mornings ago. Now.”

Ace didn’t hesitate. He grabbed his phone, made the call, and relayed the order.

Minutes later, the footage arrived.

Lucian stood behind Ace as they watched the video on his phone.

At exactly 11:55 AM, Alina’s car pulled up in front of Blackwood Tower. She stepped out with the lunch pack in hand, leaned toward the car to say something to Jordan and Lee, then walked into the building.

By 12:20 PM, she reappeared.

The lunch pack was gone.

Her body language was tense. Her stride was stiff. Her face, unreadable.

Lucian leaned in, eyes narrowing. “Where’s the lobby footage?” he snapped. “I need to see what happened when she went in the building.”

Ace frowned. “It’s not here…”

Lucian growled, “Call them back now.”

Ace did, quickly placing the call.

“Where is the Lobby footage? I asked for all of it.” Ace growled at the guy on the other end.
